Yesterday, our GMD/CEO, Lolu Akinyemi led other members of the Lafarge Africa management team on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Engr. Sanusi Garba and other Commissioners of the body. The NERC has played a vibrant role in shaping the evolution of the power sector, and leaning on its policies and frameworks, Lafarge Africa is seeking to strengthen ties with the commission and explore areas of mutual collaboration. We thank the Chairman and the NERC for the longstanding support provided to Lafarge Africa and we reaffirm our commitment to partnering with the Commission to advance the long-term goals of the Nigerian energy sector. #LafargeAfrica

In line with our CSR pillar of Education, we have impacted over 16,000 students across Nigeria this year, through our initiatives which range from scholarship and bursary disbursement, climate literacy, and other community initiatives. Our Back to School initiative supports school enrolment and provides school uniforms, bags, sandals and other educational materials required by students in our host community schools. We also support our communities with classrooms and other infrastructural support that ensures that children go to school and stay educated. #LafargeAfrica #WorldLiteracyDay #Thrivingwithourcommunities

We are ending the week on a great note with these photos of the participants of our female tilers and block-laying training program. This year’s program builds on the successes of previous editions, expanding our impact to more women from low-income communities. We are excited to see the enthusiasm and hard work of the women who are gaining the relevant skills to compete favourably in the sector. We look forward to their graduation ceremony coming up in September. Empowering women with tiling and block laying skills is paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable future. #lafargeafrica #womenempowerment #Buildingprogress #Thrivingwithourcommunities

Did you know that In 2022, we used 123,263 tonnes of waste to serve as alternative fuel and raw material sources? To reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, we have significantly increased the usage of industrial waste and biomass as alternative fuels through our Geocycle operations. This shift has resulted in a 19% increase in the proportion of these sustainable energy sources, further reducing our carbon footprint.
