🎉 Congratulations to Edison International for publishing their ambitious report - Reaching Net Zero. This bold vision, paired with collaboration between public and private partners, will help us achieve California’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. We look forward to continuing to support a net-zero carbon future through LACI's Clean Energy and Transportation Electrification Partnerships.
Today, Edison International published Reaching Net Zero, a forward-looking analysis that reinforces the urgent need for public-private collaboration, enhanced efficiencies and significant investment in clean firm generation to meet California’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. While California’s clean energy future is within reach, it is not assured. We need proactive planning to address and navigate challenges and risks. Edison International is committed to delivering 100% clean electricity to customers and reaching net-zero GHG emissions by 2045. I hope you’ll take some time to read this significant new analysis. The La Kretz Innovation Campus was abuzz with activity this morning for a panel on envisioning green and sustainable schools for all LAUSD students. The panel featured Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34); Dr. Rocio Rivas, LAUSD Board Member (District 2); Víctor G. Sánchez Jr., Executive Director of LAANE; Dr. Pedro A. Noguera, Dean of the USC School of Eduction; Martha Guzman Aceves, Environmental Protection Agency Region 9 Administrator; and LACI's own Director of City Climate Innovation, Jack Symington. Together, they discussed creating a more sustainable ecosystem, confronting the environmental challenges that students may face, and the ensuring green jobs pathways for LAUSD students. Thanks to all those who attended and participated in this uplifting discussion!

Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) reposted this
🙌 I had the incredible opportunity to attend NYC Climate Week for the first time and co-host a Textile Circularity Roundtable alongside Aly Bryan and Akshatha Bhat at Closed Loop Partners! 🎉 It was an amazing experience bringing together industry leaders to discuss the future of sustainable textiles. During our discussion, we tackled big questions around scaling circularity, standard setting, and the need for new novel financial solutions. It’s clear that collective action and collaboration are key to making real progress and we are energized to help facilitate more progressive efforts to make textile circularity a scaled reality. I'm excited to continue this important work with my team at Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) and drive meaningful change in the #textile industry! In addition to the folks mentioned above, S/O to all that helped empower the initiation of this event, supporting the planning stage and day of execution to make it a success ✨ - Jillian Misrack, Jack Symington, Rio Hanson, Michelle Kinman, Matt Petersen, Damita Adams, Alex Mitchell, Danielle Joseph! Thank you again to the Latham & Watkins team (especially Mark!) for being an exceptional venue host for this event! 💜 #ClimateWeekNYC #TextileCircularity #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #LACI

Incubators like LACI provide crucial support to early stage #cleantech startups, and yet the amount of federal funding dedicated to clean energy incubators and accelerators is paltry given the need to meet the climate crisis. LACI convened the National Coalition of Clean Energy Incubators (NCCEI) in great part to advocate for additional resources for startups and entrepreneurs to move at speed and scale, and provide a voice for the community in Washington and other venues. Read the latest blog post from LACI President and CEO Matt Petersen to learn more about how the NCCEI is serving startups and communities. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/guT58ZH4

Congratulations to LACI portfolio company NeoCharge for being recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) American-Made Equitable and Affordable Solutions to Electrification (EAS-E) Prize Challenge!
Exciting News! NeoCharge, in collaboration with Redwood Energy, has been honored as Runner-Up in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) American-Made Equitable and Affordable Solutions to Electrification (EAS-E) Prize Challenge! This $325,000 cash prize recognizes our innovative approach to a critical challenge: making home electrification accessible and affordable for all. Here’s the reality: To meet our climate goals, we need to electrify nearly 50 million homes across the U.S. If each of these homes requires a multi-thousand dollar panel upgrade to switch from gas to electric, the costs become astronomical - potentially as high as $100 billion in the U.S. But here's the game-changer: most existing electric panels in the U.S. actually have more than enough capacity. Meaning they dont NEED to be upgraded. The key is being intelligent about how we add circuits and devices to homes. At NeoCharge, we’ve made it our mission to streamline this process and make home electrification possible without costly panel upgrades. Our solution? A combination of 120V appliances, the NeoCharge 240 Smart Splitter, and load management to ensure the home stays within safe capacity. It all started with our Smart Splitter, helping homeowners/renters add EV charging with ease by sharing existing 240V circuits. Now, we’re expanding to enable whole-home electrification in even more homes – including on standard 100-amp or even smaller 80 or 70-amp panels. This success is backed by rigorous testing from this American-Made challenge that we conducted at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. This prize isn't just an award – it's validation of our mission and a catalyst for future innovation to make electrification as easy and affordable as possible (EAS-E prize). We're excited to leverage this opportunity to develop even more products that make home electrification and EV charging as accessible and affordable as possible. (while helping reduce peak energy load and emissions from home energy) Together with partners like Redwood Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and supporters like the DOE, we're not just powering homes – we're empowering a sustainable future. Thank you to the DOE, American-Made Challenge, team NeoCharge, the entire team at Redwood Energy, the National Renewable Energy Lab, and everyone who's been part of this journey. The path to clean energy and fully electrified homes is clear, and it runs right through your home's electrical panel. Let's make it happen, together – affordably and intelligently.
