We are excited to welcome Graham Eccles to Laird Norton Company! Graham joined our real estate division, Laird Norton Properties, earlier this month as our Portfolio & Investment Manager. He joins us with 12 years of expertise in commercial real estate management, underwriting, and debt placement. At Wells Fargo Real Estate Bank in Seattle, he managed developer relationships, closed significant debt transactions, and assessed portfolio risks. In his new role, Graham will collaborate with our LNP President to manage and grow our real estate investments, aligning with our long-range objectives and Creating Shared Value principles. We are excited to announce our partnership with SMB Climate investing together in companies that are decarbonizing commercial buildings. Our partnership focuses on buying businesses for the long-term, partnering with strong management teams to drive sustained growth, and investing for financial returns and climate impact.   As an eighth-generation family company, our approach to business is informed by the values of the company and its family owners and integrating these considerations into our investments. Buildings represent approximately 40% of global carbon emissions, and electrifying our commercial buildings and making them more efficient is one of the biggest levers we have available to reduce carbon emissions.   This partnership will jointly source and invest in profitable companies that are implementing today’s climate technology to decarbonize commercial buildings. We are currently working with companies that offer full-suite energy services (ESCO), energy-as-a-service (EaaS), energy advisory, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering design, and energy monitoring. This week we were able to give back to our community while partnering once again with EarthCorps, an organization focused on cultivating leaders and community partnerships to advance environmental justice. For this project, we aided in riverbank restoration along the Duwamish River, providing cleaner water for salmon as well as other native species. We were especially excited to participate in this location as watershed efforts are one of our primary environmental focus areas. Special thanks to our subsidiary companies, Laird Norton Wealth Management and Heartland LLC, who joined us for this event!
