Lake County Parks is proud to have 2 R.O.S.E award winners. Congratulations to Sarah and Dan! This award is well deserved as you both go above and beyond for our park visitors!
"The work that these individuals in the tourism and hospitality industry do help the Region be more successful in the future," Philip Taillon said. "When they treat people who visit Northwest Indiana the right way and give them extra special attention, those folks are going to come back again and again. So they are very important to not only South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, but also Northwest Indiana in general. Once again stellar R.O.S.E. and R.I.S.E. event at the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana

Vote for PLAY! Lake County Parks was so happy to be partners with the Indiana Park and Recreation Association for the Early Childhood & Play Summit held at Bellaboo's this past Monday! We had a fantastic day connecting with play professionals from all over the state and we couldn't have done it without our wonderful panel of speakers from Hitchcock Design Group, Crown Point Community Library, SPARK Learning Lab, Lakeshore Public Media, and Lake County Parks' very own Caryn Corriere. Our keynote speakers, Mary Jane Eisenhauer of First Things First Porter County and Linda Curley of Purdue Extension-Lake County brought the fun and energy with a perfectly themed lunch & learn where participants got to vote for play! The summit wrapped up with a children's book treasure hunt, thanks to generous donations from Lake County Public Library, Crown Point Library, Porter County Public Library System, Lowell Public Library & Books, Brushes & Bands for Education. And last but certainly not least, an extra big thanks to Hitchcock Design Group for sponsoring this edu-taining event. We had such a great time that we're already planning next year's summit!

Happy Golden Birthday Bellaboo's! Today we celebrate 15 years of birthday parties, field trips, holiday events and lots and lots of play. Bellaboo's Play and Discovery Center, designed by the White Hutchinson and Lake County Parks, is based on the proven concept that there is a positive relationship between the way children play and their cognitive and social development. At Bellaboo’s, it's simple - children learn through play. Over the past 15 years, Bellaboo's has seen lots of additions- a vet's office in the tiny town, a pedal play course and an huge outdoor imagination garden with pirate ship and splash areas. We want to thank all of the current and previous park staff and board members for bringing Bellaboo's to life and keeping it going 15 years later. The business of play is hard work, but it's appreciated!
