Applications for the 2025 cohort at Middle Village are now open. Every year, Downtown Lansing Inc. invites five retail businesses to participate in the yearlong program, which offers them a unique, energetic space to test the market and receive business programming and marketing support as they grow their brand in a safe, inclusive environment. And we're proud to power this program. Our friends at Michigan Business Network (MBN) share more information about the program at: https://brnw.ch/21wO1Sf

Reflecting on Hispanic Heritage Month, Toni H. shares her story: “Waking up early every weekend to drive to my grandma’s where laughs, love, and jokes are passed around almost as fast as the food is a core memory for me. My grandma’s passion and love were expressed through her food, and oh, it makes it taste even better! While eating, we would share stories and come together to laugh and celebrate how lucky we were to all be together. My father instilled the pride I feel being of Hispanic heritage. Growing up, he lost much of his language and culture, as he wasn’t allowed to speak Spanish outside the four walls of his family home. Reflecting on his experience, I realized that past generations have sacrificed so much of their lives fighting for the chance of equality for the future generations to be unapologetically authentic. When I think about Hispanic Heritage Month, I think of it as an amazing time for the community to not only highlight contributions and advancements, but to also reflect on the struggles Hispanics have faced throughout history. It is refreshing to find a workplace that celebrates this special month by allowing managers to buy us food and create an open space for discussion. It is the first place I felt completely comfortable to be my genuine and authentic self. I love teaching others about my culture and why it is so important to preserve.” -Toni H. | Lake Trust Team Member . . . #HispanicHeritageMonth #ThePowerInAllOfUs

There’s power in working together to uplift our Michigan communities. In giving back in service. And creating a positive impact. On Monday, Lake Trust team members dedicated their time and talent for Powered by Good Day, our annual day of volunteering. From Mount Pleasant to Metro Detroit, hundreds of Lake Trust team members volunteered in their neighborhoods. Working with nonprofit organizations that provide food, housing, clothing, and other essential services to strengthen their communities. In addition, this year Lake Trust Foundation continued its partnership with Scholastic Book Fair to provide the students of Estabrook Elementary in Ypsilanti with three free books each. There’s power in all of us to make a positive impact in the world each day. #ThePowerInAllOfUs #PoweredByGoodDay #CUKind
