For the last 8 years, Lakeshore Learning has been proud to partner with the LaundryCares Foundation to provide early learning play spaces in laundromats, bringing best practices in early literacy to everyday spaces. Lakeshore Learning President Kevin Carnes said, “All of us at Lakeshore have been so proud to participate in a project that meets families in their neighborhoods, provides such valuable resources and information and really honors parents as their children’s first teachers. We salute the foundation for having the vision and drive to make this all happen!” We are also proud to share that LaundryCares was recently honored with the prestigious David M. Rubenstein Prize from the Library of Congress Literacy Awards. Their commitment to adding literacy stations to laundromats and turning them into spaces of learning and connection is truly an inspiration. We’re grateful to have the chance to be a part of their mission, helping bring the love of reading to children and families who may have limited access to such opportunities. Together, we’ve fostered environments where children not only learn but experience the joy and wonder of discovery. These spaces are more than just places to clean clothes; they are hubs of imagination, family bonding and community support.
