About us

Lang Development Group (LDG) is a full-service real estate acquisition, development, and property management company located in Newark, Delaware. Our offices are in an old mill building just off of Paper Mill Road in a project that was redeveloped in the late 1990’s known as NVF. Lang Development’s portfolio includes 25 projects under management or development, consisting of over 350,000 square feet of commercial space and over 220 residential units. We continue to focus on projects in the local Newark area and foresee growing our portfolio to over 300 units and 500,000 square feet of commercial space in the next five years. We have a number of longtime associates within the organization who create a great deal of depth to the company, and we pride ourselves on having a full-service, full-time maintenance staff to handle the needs of our tenants. The company is involved in many local activities supporting the local Newark area, being affiliated with the University of Delaware, the Downtown Newark Partnership, the local restaurant association, the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, and the New Castle County Board of Realtors. It also supports many local youth programs and schools by donating time and funding for various activities.

  • At this time of year, we're used to marveling at the yellows, reds, and oranges in the landscape, but at Newark Reservoir, right now the color scheme is definitely an incredible wave of red, white, and blue! Stop by to see Newark Morning Rotary Club's Flags for Heroes 2024, a heartfelt tribute to service men and women, and heroes of all kinds. Since 2015, thousands of American flags have been raised, each one representing a hero honored by our community. This year's display invites everyone to walk among the flags, read the names on medallions, and reflect on their own heroes. It all culminates in a moving ceremony on Sunday, November 10 at 11:00 AM—all are welcome to join in this meaningful tribute.   • Important 2024 Winter Parking Policy Changes in Newark: What Our Commercial Tenants Need to Know As the winter season approaches, the City of Newark has announced new changes to its parking policies that may impact businesses, particularly during the University of Delaware’s winter break. Since many of our commercial tenants are deeply affected by the ebb and flow of student traffic, it's important to be aware of these updates, which are set to take effect this winter as part of an experimental phase. Free Parking on Weekends from December 16—January 19. This policy is part of an effort by city officials to attract more visitors to downtown businesses, particularly during the slower months when the university is not in session. For our tenants, this presents a great opportunity to encourage weekend foot traffic, especially with the holiday season coming up. Marketing efforts that highlight free parking could help boost customer visits on Saturdays and Sundays. No More Discounted Weekday Parking However, in a shift from the previous two years, weekday parking will no longer be discounted. The city has decided to remove the reduced parking fees during weekdays to recover an estimated $47,000 in revenue. This change is likely to impact weekday business, especially during the winter break, when foot traffic traditionally slows down. Tenants should be prepared for the potential decrease in weekday visitors, as this adjustment may deter some patrons. Other Changes Additionally, the minimum charge for on-street parking will increase from 25 cents to 50 cents, and the time limit for on-street parking will be extended from two to three hours. These changes are designed to improve efficiency and turnover, especially during busier periods. While these new policies are temporary, we encourage our tenants to stay informed and adjust their business strategies accordingly. Whether through promoting weekend deals, hosting special events, or emphasizing the ease of weekend access with free parking, there are ways to make the most of the current policy adjustments.
