October is Domestic Violence and Intimate Partner Violence Awareness Month. At Larkin Street Youth Services, we’re highlighting the importance of safe, healthy relationships for young people. Domestic violence affects people from all backgrounds, including youth experiencing homelessness, and can take many forms—emotional manipulation, isolation, financial control, and more. This month, we’re raising awareness and sharing resources to foster resilience and well-being. Together, we can create a future where every young person feels safe and supported.

There’s a lot of talk about #AIforGood. But those who have been “doing good” for decades are often left out of the conversation. Last week, Tipping Point convened nonprofits from across sectors, inviting our own grantees as well as grantees from Crankstart + Sobrato Philanthropies, for “Harnessing AI for Good in the Nonprofit Sector: Lessons Learned and The Path Ahead." With a panel led by Project Evident, a data-driven nonprofit organization that boasts their own AI Readiness Diagnostic tool, we also featured three direct services organizations to share how they have designed + implemented AI tools to further their impact. We are also funding coaching and technical assistance to help our grantees implement AI tools into their own organization. Tipping Point is committed to providing cutting-edge resources for nonprofits, so they can continue to grow and increase their impact delivering life-changing services for #BayArea residents. Congratulations to Larkin Street Youth Services' Youth Fellow Alumni, Anton Eremin, for graduating from Senator Laphonza Butler's #YoungLeadersAcademy! 🎉 #YouthEmpowerment #YouthLeadership #YouthVoice
Completing the inaugural Youth Leadership Academy, led by Senator Laphonza Butler and her office was an incredible experience, offering a unique opportunity to gain meaningful insights into public service, connect with California leaders and passionate young advocates. Learning from inspiring figures like Senator Laphonza Butler, civil rights icon Dolores Huerta, Mayor Emmanuel Estrada, Councilmember Jorgel Chavez, labor organizer and activist Randy Parraz and others provided invaluable perspectives on the legislative process and the vital role of public engagement in addressing systemic issues. I’m excited to put these lessons into action and support my community more meaningfully. My sincere thanks to Senator Laphonza Butler, Denise Sahatdjian, Sandra Gonzales, and the dedicated team at Senator Butler’s office for making this experience possible. Special thanks to Kelsey Pimentel for her unwavering support and encouragement throughout this journey, as well as to the remarkable young leaders who shared this experience, each bringing unique insights and a shared passion for service. I look forward to joining the alumni network and continuing to collaborate with these exceptional peers. #YoungLeadersAcademy #Leadership #PublicService
