Adult-use cannabis is legal in 24 states across the country. And come November, we might be able to add 4 more states to that list: Florida, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. This #NationalVoterRegistrationDay, make sure you are registered to vote and spread the word to your friends, family, and loved ones. This election is critical in moving the needle forward for cannabis justice—and every vote counts. Read more on our blog: https://lnkd.in/eE-yWEpk

The Last Prisoner Project is a nonprofit working to redress the harms of cannabis criminalization and the War on Drugs.
About us
The Last Prisoner Project (LPP) is a national, nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to cannabis criminal justice reform with the goal of releasing every last cannabis prisoner. We aim to end America’s policy of cannabis criminalization, as well as to repair the harms of this discriminatory and counterproductive crusade. We seek to redress the past and continuing harms of these unjust laws through legal intervention, direct constituent support, advocacy campaigns, and policy change. This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re honoring our Hispanic/Latino constituents who have been impacted by cannabis prohibition—and urging all of our followers to join the fight for their freedom. Only President Biden has the power of clemency to bring federal cannabis prisoners home, a promise he made on the campaign trail. With only 126 days of his term left, time is running out. Join the #Countdown4Clemency campaign to hold the President to his promise: www.cannabisclemency.org.

LPP constituent Dannye McIntosh is finally home💚 Dannye served 18 years of a 30-year sentence before he was released early, thanks to the hard work of his lawyer Liz Budnitz of the Cannabis Justice Initiative, Last Prisoner Project’s partnership with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Over the course of his incarceration, Dannye took over 50 courses and amassed over 20 program certificates. Now home, Dannye is reconnecting with family and loved ones and plans to work as an apprentice in a barber shop as he pursues his state barber’s license. In a statement posted on Truth Social, former President Trump says that he believes Florida voters will pass cannabis legalization come November. “In Florida, like so many other States that have already given their approval, personal amounts of marijuana will be legalized for adults with Amendment 3. Whether people like it or not, this will happen through the approval of the Voters, so it should be done correctly. “At the same time, someone should not be a criminal in Florida, when this is legal in so many other States. We do not need to ruin lives & waste Taxpayer Dollars arresting adults with personal amounts of it on them, and no one should grieve a loved one because they died from fentanyl laced marijuana." Take a look at how a yes on Amendment 3 would impact cannabis justice in Florida in our recent op-ed by LPP Policy Manager, Adrian Rocha: https://lnkd.in/evGjDnTv *This post is for informational purposes only. As a 501c3, Last Prisoner Project does not endorse political candidates.
