About us
We are a public relations firm specializing in corporate and consumer campaigns for clients across the Latin American region. Our fundamental belief: in a world of big data and automation, the ability to connect with people, to inform and persuade them of a particular point of view through relationships, evidence and discussion is more important to businesses than ever. Our expertise is based on earned influence – the ability to consistently convey a message on behalf of our clients to generate a response. The latter may involve a belief, a call to action, a new consideration or simply increased awareness. Our clients’ audiences range from consumers and employees, to business partners and local regulators. We are passionate about and absolutely committed to the region, whose societies and cultures are so diverse and whose economy is growing but which, from a PR agency perspective, remains perennially under-served. From the bustle of Mexico City to the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro, from the peace dividend in Colombia, to Chile’s start-up mentality, we believe that Latin America should represent more than a ‘line item’ next to ‘out of pockets’ on the global PR plan! Our experience from multiple developed and emerging markets brings an operating model that can exploit all the nuances of each market, in a systematic, cost-effective, consistent manner for brands wherever they are based. We don’t simply assume that our audiences’– whether they be consumers, employees, investors, business partners or regulators – are necessarily interested or aware of our clients’ propositions. The fundamental currency for this interest is ‘relevance’, we need to demonstrate the meaning and purpose of our clients’ particular message to their audiences’ lives. We do this by listening to them and understanding their interests, concerns and priorities; our task is then to connect our clients’ brands to the same. This is the essence of the ‘intersect’.

Last week I enjoyed a wonderful half-hour conversation with a leading voice in Latin American and Global PR, Sonia Yánez Blum. Some topics we covered: 💻 How to get the most of AI without dehumanising our workspace - enhancement, not replacement. 📲 How to thrive in the rapidly decentralising media and social media landscape without cheapening our stories - understand the power of influencers, and remember that news outlets too are looking for clicks and engagement. 💼 How to manage our new remote working reality without losing the human connection - PR has always been done on the hoof more than other industries, but now we can combine our nomadic energy with a support network of tools. And as we continued to exchange ideas, I noticed how one word kept coming up. Relations. It is, after all, what we do. But it is also the answer to so many of these problems. Because relations are neither fixed nor ever changing. They adapt from a place of certainty. We still have friends from school, but today we all gather in a big WhatsApp group or talking over the Instagram. We see our parents or kids on the weekends, but sometimes through a video call instead of in-person. If we think about what makes our personal relations special, then we can apply this same idea to our business of Public Relations. Relations with our colleagues may have become remote, but they still rely on trust, transparency, and getting together once in a while to feel that buzz of brainstorming over a coffee. Relations with journalists may have changed from emails and telephone to WhatsApp, but we still have to put ourselves in their shoes and think about how we can help them to tell the story that they themselves would want to tell. Relations with our clients may be more multiplatform than we were once used to, but we still have to maintain a two-way channel of information exchange, combining our ideas and understandings to position them where they want to be, and where people will want to see them. Relations can both ground us going forward while giving us space to evolve and adapt. Because relations is one of the most human words we have. Our relations change throughout our lives and from day to day, but very often they also stay the same at their core. This is how I believe the Relations of Public Relations should be. Leading the way, countries like Colombia, Chile, Honduras, and Brazil have significantly improved their scores, while Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Jamaica boast the highest parity in the region. With 99.2% parity in education and 97.6% in health, the region’s advancements are reshaping the future of leadership.
