#ThrowbackThursday to a landmark decision in Nevada law! 🏛️ In Gallegos v. Malco Enterprises of Nevada, the Nevada Supreme Court ruled that a judgment debtor's right of action could be assigned through a judicial proceeding to satisfy a judgment. In this case, Gallegos, having won a default judgment after a hit-and-run incident, sought to collect on the judgment by requesting the assignment of the defendant's unasserted legal claims against his insurer. The district court granted this request, assigning claims related to breach of contract and fiduciary duties. On appeal, the Nevada Supreme Court upheld the decision, stating that under NRS 21.080(1), all of a judgment debtor's property, including legal claims, can be used to satisfy a judgment. This decision emphasizes that a debtor's rights of action are considered personal property and are subject to execution. #LegalHistory #NevadaLaw

🌟 #ThrowbackThursday to the landmark case of Lindke v. Freed! 🌟 In Lindke v Freed, the U.S Supreme Court ruled that when government officials use their social media accounts to do their jobs, they can’t block people based on difference of opinion. In this case, Mr. Lindke was blocked on social media by official Mr. Freed, to which he argued that this action violated his First Amendment rights as the account was being used for official government purposes. In an unanimously opinion, the Court, held that social media activity by a public official could be considered state action, therefore blocking someone is considered a violation to their right of free speech on social media. This ruling sets a new precedent by clarifying that government officials must treat their social media accounts like public forums if they use them for business purposes. #SupremeCourt #FreeSpeech #FirstAmendment #SocialMedia #LegalPrecedent #TBT #LatherLaw
