  • The Youth Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program, a collaborative initiative by the Latino Academy, Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County, and WRTP | BIG STEP, offers an in-depth exploration of various trades within the construction industry. Participants will gain valuable knowledge in construction terminology, project scheduling, and essential skills, complemented by hands-on tool experience. The program provides industry-recognized certifications including OSHA-10, First Aid/CPR/AED, Fall Protection, Flagging, and an introduction to the Commercial Driver’s License and transportation industry opportunities. This week, students toured Schmidt's Auto Incorporated and Madison Metro Transit. Students also learned about employment opportunities they have available and skills needed for those jobs. Schmidt’s Auto, established in 1937, continues its legacy of affordable automotive solutions and innovation. Madison Metro drivers play a crucial role in the community, facilitating access to jobs, education, and essential services. It was wonderful to reconnect with former CDL students now working at Metro. Thank you both for your partnership and commitment to our community! If you are interested in joining our fall cohort, please contact the Latino Academy for further details.
