With Halloween fast approaching, patients had a blast attending our "Hocus Pocus Waffle Bar" special event! Our Rec Therapy team helped patients spark socialization and learn lessons related to decision-making and creativity. Patients were able to pick their own toppings for their waffles, and then watch the movie Hocus Pocus. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a magically-good time!

We are pleased to announce the success of our recent Hope Rises event, which we held in observance of Suicide Prevention Month. Hope Rises, which took place on September 27, brought together community and staff members to raise awareness and promote support for suicide prevention efforts. We would like to highlight our symbolic (biodegradable) balloon release in honor of those impacted by suicide, and thank our guest speaker, the honorable Judge Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez, whose inspiring words touched many in the audience. We offer our deepest gratitude to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success. Together, we make a difference in the fight against suicide. If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline provides free 24/7 connection to confidential support from trained professionals. There is hope. Just call or text 988, or start a chat at 988lifeline.org.

We recently hosted a special event in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. The event allowed us to celebrate the vibrant culture, rich traditions, and diverse contributions of the Hispanic community. The day was filled with music, delicious snacks, and a fun-filled game of Loteria. It was a wonderful way to connect trough this beloved cultural tradition, share laughs, and enjoy time together. Thank you to everyone who joined in to make this event so memorable! #HispanicHeritageMonth

Today, we honor the brave heroes who endured unimaginable hardship as prisoners of war. Their strength, courage, and perseverance continue to inspire us all. As we pay tribute, it's important to acknowledge the impact these experiences can have on their behavioral health. Many POWs face ongoing challenges with PTSD, anxiety, and trauma recovery - making access to quality behavioral health support critical. Let's continue to raise awareness and stand by these heroes, ensuring they receive the care they deserve to heal both mentally and physically. #POWRecognitionDay #HonorAndHeal #VeteransCare #SupportOurHeroes

Last week, our team had the opportunity to connect over coffee with our new CEO, Ashley Sacriste! It was a great chance for everyone to share ideas, ask questions, and build stronger relationships in a relaxed setting. We are looking forward to more open conversations as we move forward together. Thanks for the coffee, Ashley! #TeamBuilding #LeadershipConnect

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and we are motivated to help create hope through action. We are incredibly proud of our patients for recently participating in a 2k walk in honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Their commitment to raising awareness and supporting mental health is truly inspiring. We walked together to spread hope, end stigma, and remind everyone that they are never alone. We want to thank San Antonio PAWS for allowing us to utilize their service therapy dogs, and NAMI Greater San Antonio for advocating alongside us and motivating our patients. We also want to give a big shoutout to HTEAO for keeping us refreshed! #WalkForHope
