Leadership trajectory - how to evolve your success narrative? It is a challenge for many professionals who have generated results via their own drive and technical skills. Yet, a leader of teams takes a different set of skills and the focus moves to understanding self and others more deeply. Career progression moves to generating results through others, therefore attention is on thinking and feeling and awareness. An executive coach creates a safe space to explore, identify, and practice becoming the leader you want to be. Let's talk. How can I possibly influence...narcissism, disagreeableness, stubbornness, or the know it all? We all work with a variety of styles and personalities and need to add effective strategies to our communication toolkit to have impact. Take a look at some concrete methods to consider in this HBR article based on Adam Grant's book - Think Again: The Power of Not Knowing What You Don't Know. #CultivatingNewSkills #Communication #LeadershipStrategies #CoachingLeaders

Good leadership is like a tree. How, might you ask? Trees have a tremendous network and they help trees of different species. They don't hoard resources. When a tree falls, other trees deliver needed nutrients via mycelium to help that fallen tree to thrive in new ways. I think trees exemplify important leadership characteristics. They remind us to consider: What opportunities exist to help those who are different from us? How might we extend help to a colleague in a time of struggle? #Leadership #LessonsFromNature #SupportingColleagues #Coaching

Recently I conducted a workshop on change and discovered a new term - eustress. This is a type of positive stress which is beneficial and actually necessary for overall well-being. It can contribute to feelings of optimism and excitement about change in life and at work. We will always be navigating change and there will be some discomfort. Yet, we have an opportunity to train our brain to choose how we interpret the change and that impacts our physiological response. How can we move from seeing a threat to seeing an opportunity? ANS: Adopting a Growth Mindset Here are a few strategies to consider: 1. Name your intention of how you will view the change - as an Opportunity. 2. Celebrate moments of progress during the change — including baby steps — including baby steps 3. Give yourself permission to start experimenting along the way 4. Learn from peers who seem to model the growth mindset well 5. Look for ways to lead by example, even if you aren’t always confident Are you navigating some change? Need some help? Let's talk. #NavigatingChange #GrowthMindset #Nueroscience #Progress #BabySteps #TrainTheBrain

Psychologist Daniel Goleman claims emotional intelligence separates a good leader from a great one. What is EQ? It is our ability to understand and manage our own emotions and the emotions of others. It's about being aware of what you’re feeling, why you're feeling it, and how to express those feelings effectively. It’s also understanding others and learning how to empathize, react, and cooperate with others based on their emotions. There are five main elements of EQ Self-awareness — being able to recognize your own emotions and understand your tendencies and triggers. Self-regulation — managing your emotional responses by controlling your reactions and impulses. Motivation — being aware of what motivates you and others Empathy —recognizing how others are feeling in order to relate to them more effectively. Social skills — Managing relationships and building rapport with others. #EmotionalIntelligence #Leadership #Cultivating #Growth #Coaching
