We had a wonderful conclusion to the 2024 #BeefBourbonBocce season with our last event Thursday evening, October 10th. It was our largest group yet, with almost 40 professionals from all over NE Ohio joining us for a great night of camaraderie and relaxed networking. Beef, Bourbon and Cigars always help to facilitate such interactions! Like all the previous events this year, we were blessed with great weather (admittedly it was a little chilly), but a roaring fire helped keep everyone warm, as did the fantastic, come-from-behind win by the #Guardians. I'll say, that win had everyone FIRED UP! I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to show up to any of the five BBB's we hosted this year. I look forward to another great season of these next year. Also, I'd like to thank my partners and colleagues at Lazear ESOP | M&A Advisors for their tremendous support of these events. Something we all have in common? Our shared goals of promoting #ESOPs as a business succession plan, creating more employee ownership in New Jersey and New York, and strengthening the economy by retaining and expanding the local workforce through #employeeownership.
I have always believed in the power of knowledge sharing and transferring. In my career, mentorship, and volunteerism, I have been fortunate to build so many trusted, transparent relationships. As some of you know, I am an advisory board member of the Rutgers NJ/NY Center for Employee Ownership. There is exciting news on the ESOP front in New Jersey! The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has reached an agreement with the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) to create educational and informational programming to increase the number of New Jersey businesses utilizing an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. The agreement, funded at $2 million, will support the creation of a technical assistance program in which Rutgers will develop a tool to help interested businesses determine if transitioning to an ESOP may be a viable option.
