Tonight your #LAZoo joins City Hall, and other L.A. city departments by lighting up our front entrance in the colors of the Philippine flag. The sign will shine blue, red, white, and yellow on Thursday, Oct. 24 in support of the City of Los Angeles' Filipino American History Month celebration.

I am beyond proud to welcome the 2024/25 cohort of the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens Teen Council for Conservation. This program is in its third year and is designed to amplify the voices of the next generation of environmental stewards and facilitate shared learning opportunities. These students bring diverse backgrounds, cultures, experiences, interests, and thoughts together and represent neighborhoods all over Los Angeles to discuss and address issues including #EnvironmentalJustice and #Conservation. By serving on the L.A. Zoo Teen Council for Conservation, these young people have decided to be a part of the solution and I am inspired by all of them. I can't wait to see the culmination of their work together!

The 'Beloved Pets Ofrenda' has returned for its fourth year at the L.A. Zoo! Co-created with our partners, Plaza de la Raza Cultural Center for Arts and Education, the ofrenda is designed to honor the memory of cherished animal companions who have passed away. All Zoo guests are welcome to print photos or draw pictures of their pets and place their images and mementos on the altar located at the Zoo’s Front Entrance Plaza near Sea Life Cliffs. Zoo Learning & Engagement staff are on-site to assist guests and print photos each weekend from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. through Sunday, Nov. 3, including Indigenous Peoples' Day on Oct. 14. More information about the ‘Beloved Pets Ofrenda’ can be found on the Zoo’s website at https://lnkd.in/gwyb4asF.

Three years ago, the City of Los Angeles’s Department of Civil & Human Rights + Equity launched the #LAForAll campaign – both fighting hate and celebrating the rich diversity that unites this City. The Los Angeles Zoo is a proud supporter of #LAForAll, and this year, we are participating in the #LAForAllChallenge by illuminating our iconic front entrance in a beautiful mosaic of colors from Sept. 27-29. We invite you to participate in this challenge by safely taking a selfie with the Zoo entrance or any of the other participating City landmarks when lit in support of the campaign. Share the photo on your social media and use the hashtag #LAForAllChallenge and tag Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department. For more information on all of the City locations participating in the Challenge, visit LAisForEveryone.com.
