Precautions for this time of year to keep in mind are:   • Dress warmer to account for the chilly weather. • Take extra care to drive safely now that it’ll be darker out when commuting. • Use additional lighting on site to make sure no one’s working in a dark area. • Maintain a healthy sleep schedule and diet to help prevent getting sick or fatigued.   Our safety precautions often have to alter to account for a change in seasons. In addition to our year-round safety measures, ensure you’re also factoring in the decrease in temperature and daylight.   At L.E. Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group.   While we all need to always be as aware of our surroundings as we can, we can’t always keep track of what’s going on in every area of a job site. Barricades, signage, and controlled access zones (CAZ) are all safety measures that help keep everyone safe by alerting them to hazards they may not otherwise be aware of.    Use signs around areas that present fall hazards. When working at height or with tools that cause sparks, ensure that the zone underneath or around your work area is set up as a CAZ. We can help keep ourselves and each other safe by identifying hazards on the job and using the proper signage to prevent others from being harmed by it.   At L.E. As the nation's power infrastructure ages transmission lines across the country need upgrades to ensure power reliability. Our subsidiary, The L.E. Myers Co., recently supported Dominion Energy and its customers with essential upgrades by replacing aging insulators on a transmission line that was difficult to access between Goshen and Clifton Forge, Va.
