About us
The Leadership Institute of Acadiana is a non-profit organization committed to building leaders for the Acadiana Region. The organization is comprised of three active programs and is constantly evaluating new opportunities to improve the leadership capacity of individuals and organizations in the Lafayette community. The Institute’s flagship program, Leadership Lafayette, was started by the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and has trained more than 700 local leaders including prominent elected officials, business leaders, and community leaders. The Institute has since become an independent organization but still works in partnership with One Acadiana.

Class Member Monday is here again! Today we're thrilled to introduce Torilyn Williams. Say hi! Torilyn is a Louisiana native, born and raised in New Orleans. She moved to Lafayette to attend UL Lafayette, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Applied Life Sciences. With a heart for volunteerism, she loves to give back to the community and mentor the youth. Torilyn is an active member of Junior League of Lafayette. She volunteers with Junior Achievement, 24 Hour Citizen Project, Acadiana Fatherhood Initiative, and Good Hope Baptist Church. Torilyn is also a writer for The Lafayette Mom. Torilyn is a devoted wife and mother. She and her family enjoy spending time at local festivals and trying new restaurants. It's a beautiful #ClassMemberMonday and today we have Sean VanCourt to introduce! Sean VanCourt, a seasoned Preconstruction Manager at Rudick Construction Group (RCG), boasts nearly a decade of experience in commercial construction. A St. Bernard Parish native and graduate of Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, Sean is a first-generation college graduate with degrees from UL Monroe and LSU. After living in Fort Worth for four years, Sean relocated to Acadiana, bringing his expertise to RCG's Lafayette office. Before joining RCG, he gained valuable experience in the construction industry in Dallas and served as a Police Officer for the Port of New Orleans, reflecting his commitment to public service. In addition to his professional achievements, Sean is dedicated to various charitable causes, actively supporting organizations such as Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church and Holy Sews, which provides layettes to bereaved families after the death of an infant. Sean's proudest accomplishment is his family – marrying his wife, Caitlyn, and raising their two children, Barrett Landry and Evangeline Marie, in Arnaudville. They share a commitment to family values and are actively involved in the community. It’s that time again… drumroll please for #ClassMemberMonday! Today we’re introducing Valerie Thompson. Valerie was born and raised in Natchitoches, LA. After graduating from Natchitoches Central High School, in 2006, she moved to Lafayette, LA. Valerie attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she attained a bachelor's degree in Dietetics. It is also at ULL where she completed her dietetic internship. Valerie went on to earn a Master of Sciences in Nutritional Sciences from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in Baton Rouge, LA. Currently, she is a doctoral student at Walden University, where she is studying to earn a Ph.D. in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health. Valerie has a strong passion for ensuring her community has the knowledge and resources they need to be the healthiest version of themselves. Most recently, Valerie worked as the Community Nutrition Manager for Second Harvest Food Bank. There she played a vital role in expanding their nutrition education program. During her three year employment she lived for the mission of fighting hunger in south Louisiana by providing food access, education, advocacy, and disaster response. Valerie is married to her highschool sweetheart, and together they have two incredible sons. She loves baking and began experimenting with recipes after learning her youngest child had a food allergy. Hey, Valerie!! #leadershiplafayette #reppin37
