Alphonso David, president and CEO of the Global Black Economic Forum, recently weighed in on the current state of workplace inclusion and fears over #DEI rollbacks. David urged employers to confront the systemic inequalities that necessitate DEI programs to begin with—women and people of color have been locked out of professional opportunities for centuries. As of 2024, only 10% of all Fortune 500 CEOs are women. “We have to shift and change the narrative as we talk about these issues, because it still is a problem that women are not leading most of the Fortune 500 companies. And in fact, we only have two black women,” Alphonso said. “Think about that. Why is that not the right question in this moment? That’s what I think we should be talking about.” #diversity #equity #inclusion #leadership https://bit.ly/4dRyu0J

A survey of over 3,000 employees found that, compared to 2021, fewer employees see their managers and senior leaders as inclusive or effective at engaging across differences. However, 78 percent of employees emphasized that working at an inclusive organization is *very* important to them. The data is clear: cultivating the next generation of leaders who embody and champion inclusivity is essential. #Inclusion #Leadership

“At its best, DEI is about developing talent, measuring it in a fair way and finding hidden talent and disadvantaged talent in a world where not everybody has an equal chance to exhibit their abilities,” Ken Frazier, CEO of #LCLDMember Merck, told CNN. “Businesses will miss the best talent unless they go out of their way to develop strategies” for cultivating leaders who have faced discrimination. #DEI #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #TalentDevelopment #Leadership

I would like to extend my gratitude to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) for connecting me with these distinguished attorneys. It was my honor to join these gentlemen in being recognized as 2024 Pathfinders, a recognition (and immense opportunity) awarded to attorneys who have been identified by their organization as a "rising star" with "promising leadership potential." Over the past 7 months, we engaged in a transformative journey, collaborating with attorneys from firms and corporations across the country, to enhance our skills and expand our networks. The Fall conference in DC earlier this month marked the culmination of our program, where we gained invaluable insights from an esteemed lineup of presenters, including Bemetra Simmons, Demetra Liggins, Mitchell Karp, MaLora McCullough, Jean Kuei, Carrie Fletcher, John "The Purple Coach" Mitchell and Paula Davis. As captured in the second photograph, I also had the great privilege of speaking on behalf of my peers, discussing our collective experiences and highlighting the resilience and determination that drive us to excel. Many of us have triumphed over adversity to get to where we are today, and it is with that same persevering spirit that we advocate for our clients, colleagues and communities. Thank you again to the partners and staff at Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP for nominating me for this distinct honor. #lcld #lcldPathfinder #lcldFellows
