Some key take aways from this morning's Voices of Leadership event, powered by PNC. Many thanks to everyone in attendance and good luck in your continued exploration of Marshall Goldsmith's book "What Got You Here Won't Get You There." Dr. Linda Fedrizzi-Williams, ELS 2016 President, Central Penn College Many organizations conduct exit interviews when employees leave. Dr. Fedrizzi-Williams introduced the concept of a STAY INTERVIEW to learn what employees love, what they would like to see changed, and how to keep them engaged. Jim Hoehn, CFA, ELS 2011 Regional President, PNC Bank Everyone recognizes high performers in a company, but sometimes these very people leave a path of destruction on their way to achieving individual goals. Leaders must create cultures that don’t reward that kind of behavior and focus on long-term, team-oriented results. Sandra Holzgen, MSPOD, ELS 2023 Chief Human Resources Officer, SVP, PSECU The higher you get, the more lonely you get in an organization. Most people fail to give truthful feedback to the highest leadership. Therefore, the highest leaders must invite that feedback and create trusting environments for that feedback to be given freely and authentically. Rebecca Lupfer, ELS 2023 Senior Vice President & Chief Merchant, The Giant Company Instead of providing feedback to members of your team, try feeding forward which acknowledges the issues but focuses greater on behavioral changes for future growth. Kristal Turner-Childs, Consultant, Public Speaker, Trainer Law Enforcement Training Director, HACC Stay humble! Remember where you came from and where you started. Stay grounded as you advance in leadership and let people know that you don’t have all the answers. Ask team members to share their expertise and support them by removing the obstacles to their success.
