In this study, McKinsey Health Institute looks into holistic health at work -- a viewpoint that considers ""an individual's mental, physical, spiritual, and social functioning."" They explored how workplace demands (things that require effort and energy) and workplace enablers (things that offset challenges) affect employee wellbeing and experience. This is a rich study that is worth a closer look. #Wellbeing #EmployeeEngagement #Leadership #Culture https://lnkd.in/eXBw4zTq

The Leadership Consortium (TLC) recently shared this HBR article about ineffective learning and development practices within organizations. What we have seen through our work with leaders is that coaching is an effective supplement to class-based, academic or other formal types of learning because we can revisit skills and concepts with leaders in the moments they are needed. Coaching can help leaders stay accountable for implementing what they have learned. In short, coaching helps sustain the investment organizations are making in other forms of learning and development. #coaching #leadershipdevelopment #leadership https://lnkd.in/epuAS8C

Over the past decade the number of people who identify as LGBTQ+ has doubled and embracing LGBTQ+ acceptance in the workplace has reached major strides in recent years. But coming out at work is a deeply personal decision, and for better or worse there can be career impacts. Personal safety, healthcare and benefit alternatives, and workplace discrimination are real considerations for queer professionals. To tap into our collective knowledge for insights and advice, my team at LinkedIn collaborated with Impact Media to launch the 2024 ‘Out @ Work’ Guide to Navigating the Invisible Roadblocks of PRIDE. Feeling appreciated makes 80% of people work harder. Let that sink in. Employee recognition isn't just a nice thing to do. It's a must-do. Why? Because when employees feel valued: • Their motivation skyrockets • Their job satisfaction climbs • Your team's output improves • Your company's results thrive But here's the kicker: Recognition needs to be: ➟ Genuine ➟ Frequent It's best when it comes from: ➟ Managers ➟ Company Leaders It's not just about giving praise. It's about showing genuine gratitude for their efforts and contributions. 6 ways you can recognize your team today: 1. Say thank you, even for small things. 2. Write personal notes to show you care. 3. Listen to your team's ideas and feedback. 4. Share success stories in meetings or emails. 5. Check in regularly and ask how they're doing. 6. Give awards or bonuses for big achievements. These steps build trust and help everyone feel valued. Remember, recognition is more than a pat on the back. It's a powerful tool to: ➡️ inspire ➡️ engage and ➡️ retain your team. Start today. Make recognition a habit. Agree? Repost to share this with others ♻️. P.S. Have you noticed the impact of recognition?

Curious about building psychological safety but need some really practical advice on how to get started? This graphic has many phrases and questions that can be the start of moving toward greater psychological safety with your team. Give a few a try and then start to use them consistently to engage and support your team. #leadership #psychologicalsafety #emotionalintelligence #EQ
There is so much buzz about psychological safety, and once you start to delve into it you can see why it is so important. But that doesn't mean its easy to implement. Its not just about policy or posters on the lunch room wall. Its about making the small every day changes in how you do work that helps to embed the change throughout the whole organisation. What we love about this image from Amy Edmondson is it gives you some ideas for small every day changes in the way you communicate that will help to build a more psychologically safe environment. Asking people to argue an alternative gives them permission to speak up, and voice concerns. After this has happened a few times, hopefully you wont need the invitation and people will offer up their thoughts willingly. But if you are starting fresh at tackling this, check out some of the suggestions below! The Jonah Group. Saving Lives. "Chronic, unmanaged workplace stress — is on the rise, with 4 in 5 employees (82%) at least sometimes feeling burned out in their role." Ouch. That's a sobering statistic from recent research from the American Heart Association. The research also found that helping people find connection (and purpose) is a way to counteract burnout. As we coach leaders, we not only help them reflect on their personal purpose but also encourage them and give them tools to help their teams do the same. This approach begins to address burnout at a more systemic, rather than individual level, which is essential for sustaining healthy levels of engagement. #wellbeing #burnout #connection #leadership https://lnkd.in/gqm3pHzg
