Last week, the Emerging Leader First Class convened for their day-long September session in Annapolis! After an opening reflection from facilitator Danielle Ascione, the class spent time exploring their DiSC directing and delegating style and learning the eight levels of autonomy. The class then participated in a panel discussion with speakers Erin Roth '19 (LM), and Tammi Thomas '18 (LM) on leading a team. Building off of the panel discussion, the class learned the seven habits coaching framework and the three essentials for coaching. We can't wait for the Emerging Leader October session! #LeadershipMaryland #EmergingLeaders

Last Thursday, the Leadership Maryland Executive Program Class of 2024 kicked off their Eastern Region and Environmental session with a round of Perceptions and Realities, presented by the Eastern Maryland Region group. The class then visited Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, established in 1933 as a waterfowl sanctuary for birds migrating along the Atlantic Flyway and is now over 33,000 acres open for public recreation, for a tour. The next stop was a tour of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science - Horn Point Laboratory, to learn about the research of the biology, chemistry, physics, and ecology of organisms and ecosystems from the wetlands and estuaries of the Chesapeake Bay to the continental shelf and the world's oceans. Later, the class visited THE PACKING HOUSE, the last remaining factory from the Phillips Packing Company’s empire of vegetable and food packing businesses, where they participated in a panel discussion on the energy sector and its transformation in Maryland. To end the day, the Executive Program Class of 2024 visited Layton's Chance Vineyard & Winery and Lazy Day Farm for a tour of the grounds and dinner. The session resumed on Friday with a visit and tour of Model Farms and the Perdue Processing Facility to learn about Maryland's poultry industry. For their last stop, the class visited Salisbury University for lunch and a discussion on environmental topics and issues facing the state. Thank you to our session sponsors The Campbell Foundation, Salisbury University, and Maryland Broadband Cooperative, Inc.! #LeadershipMaryland #EasternRegion #EnvironmentalSession
