House Bill 155 introduced by Representative Ben Sanchez and supported by LeadingAge PA has received final passage from the House and Senate. The bill will allow the face-to-face interview requirement for home care workers to be met through the use of two-way video, remote technology. An important policy change for the next generation of direct care workers.

SB 1080, which allows LPNs to make death pronouncements in hospice, was passed by the PA Senate today and will soon be on its way to the Governor. This LeadingAge PA-supported bill makes a commonsense reform by enabling hospice providers to more fully leverage the skills of these professionals and alleviate unnecessary strain on families during the loss of a loved one. Thank you to the PA General Assembly for leading on this important issue!

SB 668, a bill supported by LeadingAge PA to establish a medication aide position in nursing homes, took a significant step forward today by passing the Pennsylvania Senate. Now on its way to the Governor’s desk, the legislation would allow CNAs to become cross-certified in assisted living residences and personal care homes, offering greater flexibility and support across care settings. We applaud Senators Judy Ward and Maria Tzanakis Collett for their leadership in championing this crucial initiative for Pennsylvania’s aging services!
