What’s Causing K-12 Teachers to Quit Schools and What Will Make Them Stay In a recent survey, Tyton Partners - Strategy Consulting explored why K-12 teachers leave the profession and what might keep them engaged. While nearly 20% of teachers are considering leaving within the next four years, a strong sense of community remains a major factor in keeping them in the classroom. Let's face it. Educators are the backbone of schools, but they're encountering HUGE challenges! This new report dives deep into what's causing teacher burnout & how to keep them thriving. Here's a quick overview: ⚠ Challenge alert: “A majority of teachers (54%) at large schools (i.e., 1,000+ students) find that motivating students to engage with instructional resources is a primary challenge, with likely direct implications on the caliber and quality of learning occurring.” 😓 Feeling the Burn: Many teachers are considering leaving due to workload & stress. ❤️ Community is Key: Strong connections with colleagues & students are the top reasons teachers stay. 📲 Tech Overload: Too many tools can be overwhelming! Teachers need solutions that streamline workflows—for example, standard-aligned games & resources, all in one place, or lesson plans that include specific items for a given learning objective. What can we do? 👩🏫 Principals might want to prioritize teacher well-being by fostering a supportive school environment that reduces burnout and encourages connections. 👩💻 As EdTech Developers, we need to provide user-friendly tools that seamlessly integrate into classrooms, saving teachers time and boosting student engagement— strengthening the vital connection between teachers and their students.
