Payment service providers, acquirers, and ISOs know that bad actors can adapt to and slip through underwriting controls. Deciding whether or not to onboard a merchant requires knowing which data sources to check and how to interpret the information. Human-led investigations are more effective at detecting nuance and context-dependent risk, yet are time-consuming and expensive to manage in-house. LegitScript's Merchant Risk Solutions use analyst-vetted data to deliver accurate onboarding checks and continuous risk monitoring that can save you time and effort. We help some of the world's largest payment service providers continually monitor roughly 30 million merchants using automated technology, expert analysis, and the world’s largest database of more than 230,000 products. The Cannabinoid Safety Regulation Act (CSRA) was recently introduced by Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore. As CBD manufacturers and sellers know, the CBD industry is brand new. With brand new industries comes new legislation, and that is exactly what this bill proposes for cannabinoid products to keep them out of the hands of children. “The legislation would require that all hemp-derived products are tested for safety and are manufactured using clean and safe processes. The CSRA would require truth in labeling and would require the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to recall or ban any cannabis products with dangerous chemicals or additives.” Read the full story.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is cracking down on recurring subscription traps that are difficult to cancel. According to a recent Payments Dive article, “‘The signal to other companies is that they should shift their business models to reflect actual consumer consent to continue a subscription,’ Witte said in an email. 'Consumers shouldn’t have to spend time navigating drawn-out cancellation processes,' she said.” However, with “the ‘Time Is Money’ initiative [the] federal agencies implementing it are working under a ticking clock with the presidential election fast approaching. The initiative could be at risk depending on which candidate enters the White House.”
