While the European Union was built on the concepts of free trade and a single market economy, cross-border philanthropy continues to face serious challenges. With this in mind, The King Baudouin Foundation, together with Philea - Philanthropy Europe Association, its partners, and Lex Mundi, published a groundbreaking report, "Guide Towards a Single EU Market for Philanthropy – how to become a true European foundation in a (not yet) single market for philanthropy." It provides clear guidance on the process of becoming a registered NPO in each member state as well as a snapshot of the philanthropy landscape in Europe. Lievin De Wulf and the team at Liedekerke led the efforts of 27 Lex Mundi member firms as each provided an overview of the main legal and tax regulations for philanthropy in every EU member state.
