About us
LSI’s ecosystem provides the intelligence and relationships Medtech leaders need to build breakthrough businesses. We support thousands of innovators, investors, and strategics around the world working to move Medtech forward, together. For nearly two decades, our market intelligence solutions have powered strategic decisions for the world’s most successful Medtech, Life Science, and Healthcare organizations. With that foundation, we launched the LSI Emerging Medtech Summits with one vision: create forums for the leaders building, financing, and scaling Medtech innovation to challenge convention and catalyze better healthcare for all. That vision has blossomed into a global ecosystem of curated events in the USA and Europe, immersive content and digital media, market intelligence software and services, and a thriving community to support innovation that saves and improves lives. In 2022, our ecosystem accelerated startups from early stage to exit, supported Emerging Medtech Summit Alumni in raising over $1.45 Billion in capital, and powered strategic decision making at global corporations from Medtronic to McKinsey & Co. In Medtech, the road to success is rarely straightforward. It’s filled with twists, turns, and the inevitable setbacks that challenge even the most determined innovators. Todd Brinton knows this all too well. In this clip, Todd shares a pivotal moment in his journey—after facing two early startup failures, when many would have walked away, Todd pushed forward. Todd’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance. As he candidly shares, these experiences, though difficult, laid the foundation for his eventual success with Shockwave Medical, underscoring how failure can be a critical stepping stone in building a lasting impact. In this Keynote, Todd highlighted the challenges, mentorships, and pivotal moments that shaped his career, including his role in founding Shockwave Medical and his transition to leadership at Edwards Lifesciences. Tune into the full Keynote with Todd Brinton, MD, CSO & Corporate VP at Edwards Lifesciences, moderated by Josh Makower, Co-Founder & Director of Stanford Mussallem Center for Biodesign. The full session titled, “Keynote with Todd Brinton, CSO & Corporate VP at Edwards Lifesciences” is now available on our website and YouTube channel.

What advice do investors offer to help innovators make the most of their time when approaching investors? At LSI Europe ‘24, investors Tal Wenderow and Amir Soltanianzadeh offered four key pieces of advice for innovators aiming to connect with investors: 1. Start Small & Build Relationships: During events, a simple conversation with the person next to you can lead to valuable connections. Focus on forming relationships before jumping into your pitch. 2. Avoid Over-Pitching: Don’t overwhelm potential investors with too much information in a short interaction. Instead, focus on establishing a connection and securing a follow-up meeting rather than delivering a detailed pitch on the spot. 3. Do Your Homework: Know who you’re talking to. Research the fund, their portfolio, and their investment history ahead of time. This will help you approach them with tailored and meaningful conversations. 4. Prioritize The Relationship: Investors get pitched constantly, but what stands out is a genuine connection. They are more likely to remember someone they enjoyed talking with over a purely transactional interaction. The key takeaway? Relationships come first. To dive deeper into this discussion, watch the full LSI Europe ‘24 panel, “Financing and Innovation Strategies with Operators-Turned-Investors” on our website and YouTube channel. Featured Panelists: • Scott Pantel — LSI • Tal Wenderow — Genesis Medtech Group • Amir Soltanianzadeh — Solardis Health Ventures Want to attend our next event?
