💮LifeLong recently co-hosted a Día de Los Muertos celebration at Berkeley High School. The event featured beautiful altar displays, live music, children’s activities, and art and craft stations. In addition to celebrating traditions, LifeLong provided wellness tips, free haircuts, and raffles to support the health and well-being of our community members. Attendees were encouraged to bring photos and mementos to add to the community altar, creating a shared space of remembrance and connection.✨💖 Thank you, Berkeley High School for this beautiful event. Last week, I had the honor of celebrating outstanding leadership at the 3rd Annual Achievers Luncheon hosted by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of NOBLE, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives. What made it truly special was sharing this moment with our remarkable board member, Sharon Kidd. Sharon’s dual role as both a devoted LifeLong Medical Care board member and NOBLE’s outreach coordinator reflects her incredible dedication to our community. Her gift for creating meaningful connections continues to motivate and uplift everyone around her. At LifeLong, we’re grateful for our partnership with our law enforcement colleagues who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe while we focus on health and wellness. This powerful collaboration reminds us that exceptional healthcare goes beyond medical knowledge—it’s about embracing and serving our whole community with understanding and compassion. To our law enforcement partners, and especially to Sharon—your leadership lights the way. And to NOBLE, thank you for your unwavering commitment to nurturing tomorrow’s leaders. Together, we make our community stronger. #CommunityPartners #CommunityEngagement #StrongerTogether

Chief Executive Officer at Lifelong Medical Care | Enhancing lives and driving health equity forward | Mom of Two Daughters | Proud Latina leader

Tomorrow is Election Day! 🗳️ This is our last chance to make sure healthcare funding finally goes where it’s needed most: directly into patient care. For 15 years, billions of healthcare dollars have been diverted, but Prop 35 can change that. 99 cents of every dollar will go straight to expanding access to healthcare—without raising taxes. This is our moment to create a healthier future for California. If you haven't already voted, please head to the polls tomorrow and vote YES on Prop 35! Let’s make a lasting impact together. #YesOn35 #ProtectAccessToCare #Vote2024 #VoteCalifornia

🎀 At LifeLong Medical Care, our mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their income, background, or circumstances, has access to lifesaving healthcare. 💗October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a powerful reminder of the importance of early detection. We are proud of the work we’re doing to help women in our community get the screenings they need. 🤝In partnership with Sutter Health - Bay Area, we’ve been able to bring mammography-equipped vans directly to underserved neighborhoods, breaking down the barriers that too often prevent women from accessing breast cancer screenings. 📢Shout-out to our Mammo-van events, such as the one we hosted in East Oakland on October 18. Seventeen patients completed mammograms and received a bag of food provided by the Alameda County Community Food BankCounty Community Food Bank and a $25 Target gift card from LifeLong. Patients also had the chance to schedule pap tests for cervical cancer screening and were educated about Cologuard kits for colorectal cancer screenings. 📸First photo: East Oakland clinic staff, from left to right: Josalyn Neal, Courtnei Jones, Yajaira Mendez Martin, Robin Walker, Adrianne Sullivan, Jessy Coker, April Allen, Bountouraby Camara (Cancer Prevention Specialist), Sonali Pfile, Urja Dave. 📸Second photo: Ameri-Corp fellows lend a hand, from left to right: Roxanne Milton (grey shirt), Sonali Pfile (purple shirt), Valerie Shoker (pink sweater), April Kang (grey shirt), Claudio Lopez-Coto, and Urja Dave, behind is Linda Corron and Bountouraby Camara(Cancer Prevention Specialist), and Syncerity Reason (blue sweatshirt and AmeriCorp manager). #BreastCancer #EarlyDetectionSavesLives

Another standout moment at the California Primary Care Association’s Annual Conference last week was an inspiring keynote by Daniel Dawes Dawes is a highly-regarded leader in public health and the founding Dean at Meharry School of Global Health at Meharry Medical College. Dawes captivated the audience with his powerful insights into the political determinants of health and the structural barriers that continue to hold back underserved communities. He shared a stark truth: “Health inequities are the avoidable differences in health status that arise from the social environments in which we are born, live, and die in.” What struck a chord with me most was his call for bold leadership in this fight. Dawes added: “What we need now more than ever before are leaders who carry it, know it, have the courage to do enough, and who will persevere until the job is done.” This call to action reminds us that achieving health equity isn’t just a goal—it’s a responsibility to act, ensuring that no one is left behind as we work toward a healthier, more just future. #CPCA24AC #HealthEquity #HealthcareForAll #PublicHealth
