Ending human trafficking. Reclaiming life.
About us
LifeWay Network envisions a world in which human trafficking is abolished and every survivor is strong, connected and free. LifeWay Network joins the global movement against human trafficking by providing safe housing for women who have been trafficked and offering education about trafficking to the general public. Members of the LifeWay Network community confront the reality of human trafficking every day by changing the future for women survivors through our Safe Housing Program and increasing awareness and engagement through our Education Program. Since its founding in 2007, LifeWay Network has emphasized the power of collaboration in creating the slavery-free future we all envision. We believe in bringing people together to form community and address a global issue with significant local impact. Human trafficking occurs around us. It affects people in our neighborhoods. We must join together to end slavery today and empower survivors to reclaim a life of freedom. Of course you don’t support forced labor or child labor. Of course you don’t want people to be trafficked. But did you know that forced labor and child labor are a major problem in the chocolate industry? We can do better — every one of us — by choosing Fair Trade chocolate! Just look for the Fair Trade label. It might take a little extra shopping, but it’s so worth it to know that children and workers are protected. Check out this short video for details! https://lnkd.in/gHC5gerR #fairtrade #labor

LifeWay Executive Director Ali Boak, together with the Westchester County Anti-Trafficking Task Force, distributed posters to regional hotels and motels across Westchester County. Hotels can be sites of both labor trafficking and sex trafficking, and educating staff and leadership is an important step to eradicating human trafficking from the premises and the culture. LifeWay also offers preventive education to community groups and workplaces about human trafficking: what it is, and how to prevent it, spot it and report it. If you’d like to schedule a presentation, email jcrisostomo@lifewaynetwork.org. We're grateful for the warm welcome we receive in workplaces! #hospitality #hospitalityindustry #labortrafficking #endhumantrafficking

On Indigenous Peoples Day, we want to bring awareness to the vulnerabilities experienced by some in Native communities and share resources to support people experiencing trafficking as well as survivors. The Department of Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign addresses both. Please see https://lnkd.in/g4MDw5DB to discover what you can do to fight human trafficking in your community.

Forced marriage still happens, right here. And in many states, child marriage is legal. Learn how forced marriage, child marriage and human trafficking can be linked in this new blog from the Administration for Children and Families. https://lnkd.in/gD4mcSNA

When they were girls, the trafficking survivors who call LifeWay home didn’t imagine their present-day scenario. Their dreams and their expectations for the future were very different then. So the theme of today’s International Day of the Girl Child — “Girls’ Vision for the Future” — is both poignant and hopeful. Poignant because they’ve endured deep trauma from being exploited, their original visions of adulthood thwarted. But hopeful because they’re participating in our safe housing program, where they can rebuild lives of independence in community and with professional support. As part of our year-end campaign, we’ve asked the women survivors at LifeWay what they hope for in their futures. Watch our posts to learn more about how that looks today, and how you can help make it happen.
