Lifeworks partners with people with disabilities to drive change by increasing opportunity and access in the community.
About us
Lifeworks is a Minnesota 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1965 by parents of children with disabilities. Our mission is to partner with people with disabilities to drive change by increasing opportunity and access in the community. We envision a community where people with disabilities are more broadly valued, hired by employers, receiving support, and participating in ordinary activities. Through Fiscal Support, Employment, and Day Services – as well as through partnerships with nearly 300 businesses – Lifeworks provides support to 2,500 individuals with disabilities and their families throughout the Twin Cities and greater Mankato area.

90% of companies claim to prioritize diversity – but only 4% consider disability in their initiatives. What does this mean for people with disabilities who want to work? Fewer opportunities to advance their careers, workplaces that are not accessible to them, and not getting the support they need to be successful. Are you ready to break down barriers at your business or organization? Contact Lifeworks today to learn more about how our Disability Inclusion trainings can help you build a more inclusive workplace: https://bit.ly/46pAzO8 #LifeworksMN #DisabilityInclusion

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! This month, join us in celebrating the talent, perspectives, and contributions of people with disabilities in the workplace! For more than 35 years, Lifeworks has worked to remove barriers and increase access to employment opportunities, leading to a more diverse workforce in Minnesota. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the percentage of people with disabilities who were employed reached it's highest recorded level in 2023. This is worth celebrating – especially as we continue to see increasing opportunities in the workforce and an increased awareness of employment barriers for people with disabilities. This doesn't mean that all workplaces are, or are taking the steps to be, radically inclusive of people with disabilities. Stigma and myths persist, accessibility remains a barrier for many, and lack of support on the job can lead folks to leave the workforce altogether. At Lifeworks, we believe educating businesses, organizations, and community partners is crucial to building an inclusive workplace. Starting this process involves recognizing what we don't know and identifying concrete ways to partner with people with disabilities to overcome the challenges they experience when navigating employment. If you're ready to take the steps to make your workplace truly inclusive – contact Lifeworks to learn how our Disability Inclusion trainings can help you get there: https://bit.ly/46pAzO8 #LifeworksMN #NDEAM #DisabilityInclusion
