From the moment we stepped into the classrooms, we saw digital learning in action. ✨ School leaders like Cody Marshall use data to plan student support and drive meaningful learning. 💻 Students lit up using Lexia Learning and Epic for Kids, working toward their independent learning goals. 🔔 And those unmistakable dings of Clever Inc. Lighthouse Community Public Schools is taking Family Engagement to the next level! Thank you to our Lighthouse Elementary Principal Shaina Hurley and AP of Instruction Gabriela Greig Patin and the team at Families in Action for Quality Education for putting on an Academic Town Hall focused on literacy! the room was packed! There were over 100 K to 5th grade parents looking over their student's assessments and reading inventory data, engaging in discussions about accountability, and setting individual and collective growth goals!

I had an amazing time yesterday with @fiaoakland #getonthebustour with Kimi Kean where we discussed the critical work of A-G preparation for high schoolers. While celebrating some amazing school leaders and the work they have done to get their scholars ready for college, I am beyond proud to say that my school team has supported getting 80% of our FIRST graduating class accepted into four year colleges because of our commitment to A-G course alignment, dual and concurrent enrollment, and of course, Lodestar Love. Wow! I am so proud!!!

This photograph showcases students from my Spanish 3 Honors class at Lodestar High School engaging in a dynamic project where they create a news broadcast about a Spanish-speaking country. They are using the advanced equipment provided by the Media Arts Department. These students have previously participated in our school's Media Arts pathway, where they acquired skills in production and editing that they are now applying in their language studies. The collaboration between the World Language and Media Arts Departments highlights the importance of interdisciplinary learning, a cornerstone of our educational philosophy. Our school's Media Arts pathway is designed to equip students with practical, industry-relevant skills that complement their academic pursuits in other subjects. By combining linguistic studies with media production, students enhance their creativity and problem-solving capabilities and prepare for diverse career opportunities in the modern digital landscape. This integrated approach deepens their academic experience and fosters innovation and a broadened understanding of how different disciplines intersect and amplify each other.
