Last night, we joined with other coalition members, including NAACP Springfield, to celebrate the establishment of the Springfield 1908 Race Riot National Monument. This site memorializes lives lost, underscores the ongoing fight for justice, and highlights the events leading to the NAACP's founding. The mob violence was local, but the impact has been national. We are proud to have been a part of a team that fought to ensure the preservation, interpretation, and commemoration of this important place in American history for generations to come.
