For the 11th year in a row, Dr. Frederick Lukash visited his daughter Abigail’s kindergarten classroom to perform “pumpkin surgery”! Each child received a surgical cap, mask, and gloves to prepare for “surgery” just as Dr. Lukash would in the operating room! This lesson was all about pumpkin carving safety, and for that reason, Dr. Lukash pre-carves the pumpkin and the kids participated by pulling out each piece. On Wednesday, we proudly hosted our 12th #BreastCancerSummit. This event brought together community members to celebrate survivorship and emphasize education, advanced medical practices, and innovative technologies. Leaders from industry, hospitals, and clinical settings gathered to discuss how they are navigating the ever-changing landscape of healthcare in the fight against breast cancer. We celebrated those who have triumphed over breast cancer, offered support to those facing a diagnosis, and reminded our community that together, there is always hope. This past weekend, The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) brought together the best and the brightest surgeons in the specialty, poised to share their expertise with colleagues who arrive from countries around the globe. It is the premier educational and networking event of the year, for both domestic and international plastic surgeons. The conference is intended for plastic surgeons, trainees and other allied health professionals interested in translating their expanding knowledge into practice, improving patient care and outcomes. Plastic Surgery The Meeting has provided generations of aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgeons the education they need to grow all aspects of their surgical career and practice. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Abdel Flores to our growing family here at New York Plastic Surgical Group! Offering a full range of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures, @abdelfloresmd specializes in various surgeries including rhinoplasty, breast and body contouring with the latest techniques, and breast reconstruction. He joined New York Plastic Surgical Group in 2024. Before joining NYPS Group, Dr. Flores completed his Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at Stony Brook University Hospital-Nassau University Medical Center. Dr. Flores attended the University of Puerto Rico, where he received his Medical Degree, as well as his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He graduated both programs with the scholastic distinction of Magna Cum Laude. He received his Master’s degree in Clinical and Translational Research from Mayo Clinic Graduate School, where he focused his research on stem cells and regenerative medicine. Dr. Flores has written several articles and presentations pertaining to the study of biomedical science. He has spoken at events hosted by the University of Georgia, the University of Denver, the Mayo Clinic, and other regional meetings regarding topics as diverse as RNA research, small molecule drug delivery, nerve regeneration, and biomedical device development. In addition to his work as a surgeon, Dr. Flores enjoys leading an active healthy lifestyle, and reading books on sports science, finance, and history. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
