Please consider supporting our campaign.
Imagine being forced to leave behind everything you know and love, with no promise of safety or a future—and then finding the strength to start over in a new place. Imagine finding a safe community that cares for you and helps you develop the language, and skills necessary to achieve your dreams. This is what we do. With your help, Literacy Sources empowers students to thrive! Recently, a group of asylum-seekers settled near our Lake City Center, arriving with hope for a brighter future.17 of them have become our students. They receive little to no government assistance, and our organization does not receive additional government funding to support them. We are committed to ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed in their new environment and the opportunity to take classes at Literacy Source. We are raising $25,000 to provide these students with the essential support they need this school year. Your contribution will directly fund their schooling and connect them to community resources that will help them thrive. To donate to the 17 asylum-seeking students who need our immediate support follow the link below. https://lnkd.in/gc53r2XY

We had 17 asylum-seekers become students this Summer Quarter. We found out that many asylum-seekers have been settled in an apartment complex on the same block as Literacy Source. This continues to reflect the huge need for the classes we offer in the Lake City area. We also acknowledge that the asylum-seeker is a term and immigration status that is not discussed as often and is of certain interest to us given this opportunity. Join Cat and Shira, along with our Citizenship Program Manager Cory for this Lunch and Learn to explore the topic of asylum-seekers. If you’d like to join us in person at our Lake City Center 3200 NE 125th St. Seattle, WA 98125 please email staceyh@literacysource.org Or join us via Zoom Meeting ID: 829 1064 4309 Passcode: 033902
