🚨 Big news in golf and technology! This week’s inaugural Black Desert Championship in Utah will mark a major milestone for the PGA Tour: for the first time ever, fully automated electric machines will be mowing the fairways. 🌱⛳️ FireFly Automatix, Inc., a Salt Lake City-based company with roots in agriculture and turf management, has developed these cutting-edge machines that will tackle the 7,371-yard, 71-par course. Every morning at 2 a.m., four mowers will map the course using GPS, select a cut pattern, and finish the job in 4.5 hours—allowing the grounds crew to focus on other crucial tasks. “This is more about augmentation than replacement,” says FireFly co-founder Steven Aposhian. By automating the mowing, staff can now focus on finer details like greens and tee boxes, ultimately improving the playability of the course. 🏌️♂️ Ken Yates, the Black Desert Resort’s superintendent, was initially skeptical but has been won over by the efficiency and precision of the new technology. "They've proven themselves, and I'm comfortable with them. Once the course was mapped, everything flowed really well." Read more: https://lnkd.in/gpw6FPFG
