Senior Director of Entertainment & Fan Experience at Norfolk Admirals

Earlier this month, we hosted "Admirals Fight Cancer Night". While not a new concept, it had been several years since the Admirals last held this event, and bringing it back was truly meaningful. After months of planning and collaboration, I couldn't be more proud of how the night came together. We partnered with LittleBricks Charity, led by Russell Cassevah, an incredible organization dedicated to putting big smiles on the faces of hospitalized children nation-wide through LEGO and brick-building activities. If you haven’t heard of them, I encourage you to learn more about their mission at littlebrickscharity.org. Nights like these aren’t about painted ice, specialty jerseys, or giveaways. They’re about impact. They’re about coming together for a shared cause, shining a light on organizations that work tirelessly to help others, and creating moments that truly matter. It’s not about promotion—it’s about people. One of the most powerful moments of the night was during intermission when the lights went out, and fans illuminated the arena with their cellphone flashlights. A tribute video played, first displaying names submitted by fans, honoring those affected by cancer. Followed by a heartfelt message from our players. The emotion in that moment was remarkable. The video I captured on my phone just doesn’t do it justice, you had to be there. In sports, we often focus on hype, energy, and excitement. Don’t get me wrong, we had plenty of all three, but this night was different. It was about something much bigger than the game, and it was a real honor to be a apart of.

  • What does the future of play look like in hospitals? This past year, or CEO Russell Cassevah asked just that. While play is ever evolving, our main goal is to extend play as long as possible in the Children’s Hospital setting. Thereby, creating more opportunities for patients mental health to go up with just a single LEGO Set. Stretching our funding and impact. We are taking our findings and developing real world and digital play companions to create an immersive and interactive experience. Providing the tools to extend play by more than 400% with a single donated set! #play #webuildbigsmiles #lego #games #challenges #gaming #innovation #childrenshospitals
