I’ve just returned from an inspiring and productive trip to New York, and I had the opportunity to use an app called Kindred for the first time - a community centred home-swap app. I was specifically looking to stay in Brooklyn, close to my meetings, with easy access to a good gym, and surrounded by local coffee shops to recharge in between work. Kindred made the entire process seamless, offering exactly what I needed for both my work and personal life. For creatives and photographers like myself who travel frequently for shoots, meetings, and collaborative projects, finding a space that feels like home can be a challenge. Hotels are not like a home. Kindred will transform how I approach my future travel plans. It’s a home-swapping platform that connects you with others looking to exchange homes, and it operates on a credit system—every time you host someone in your home, you earn credits that you can use to stay in someone else’s place. The app helped me secure a home that was not only convenient for my work engagements but also gave me that feeling of comfort and familiarity—a much-needed element when you’re constantly on the move. For anyone who’s navigating frequent travel, especially in creative industries, this app is a fantastic solution to make each city you visit feel more connected and personal. I’m excited to see how this community grows, particularly within the creative/nomad space as our way of living and travelling continues to evolve. How to make the team cry happy tears at their desk: part 1

Strategy & Ops Lead @ Kindred

Story time! Today, while taking a call from a coffee shop, I was approached by a lovely couple with a baby who slipped me a note (since I was on a call). I paused my call for a quick chat and got to experience Kindred magic in the wild - the couple, from Paris, was on their first Kindred stay in LA, and just hosted for the first time in Paris! I love building a product people love - this interaction means everything 🏡 Kindred

I want to take a moment to thank Kindred from the bottom of my heart. We were going to take a long weekend trip, but sadly, our beloved Pug of almost 15 years, Burger, passed away on Wednesday. We told the friendly team late that night that we were cancelling our trip, and they were kind enough to give us a full refund without asking. On Thursday afternoon, our doorbell rang, and to our surprise, the Kindred team had sent us beautiful flowers and a caring card. We were greatly moved by this unexpected act of kindness, which made us feel so cared for during a very hard time. Go the extra mile in ways that really matter. That's what real Customer Experience looks like. Thank you Justine Palefsky Laura Ferguson & Bryan Li for your kindness.

New Favourite Alert: Kindred (Disclaimer: This is NOT a paid collaboration or sponsorship—just a super happy user.) I'm in London right now, working remotely and enjoying everything this amazing city has to offer. It's my first time using Kindred for accommodation, and I’ve got to say—I’m seriously impressed. From the get-go, the experience has been top-notch, exceeding my expectations. If you haven’t heard of Kindred, it’s a members-only home swapping network where you can find some beautiful, handpicked homes and apartments to stay in or swap. The level of detail and thought they put into the whole experience is next-level. So it's perfect for both work trips and personal getaways! If you’re curious and want to know more, feel free to message me—I’m also happy to share my referral code so you can apply to join.

For the first time in a while, I used a product and had a pretty magical experience - one that feels worth talking about. I travel a lot and have been trying to make home swapping work for a while, to avoid skyrocketing accommodation fees. I have airbnb'd my place in the past, but it felt sketch and had its own headaches. First, I tried HomeExchange and it was just horrible/poorly thought out. I had to send 50-100 messages myself, only to not succeed in finding a swap. I almost did get one, but the guy seemed sketch and he wanted to swap an airbnb for my actual home (red flag). Most importantly, as a London resident, their points system HUGELY undervalues homes in major cities - can't be bothered explaining why, ask me in the comments if you care. This week, I'm staying with a host on Kindred for the first time, after being introduced to it by Nikita Maruvanda, and it feels like the same level of life-hack as staying at an Airbnb in the early 2010's, before it became code for "unlicenced hotel". There's a high bar for entry (you need a home to swap, and it needs to meet a reasonable standard) but this higher-end audience and more personal approach totally alleviated my worries re: hosting, and the places to stay are amazing. Also, big difference, you post a trip and they try and match you with viable hosts and offer very 1-1 support via chat to make it happen rather than me sending 100's of messages. Only qualm is that, for now, supply in europe is somewhat limited - but they're early so it makes sense. I ended up finding a place to stay in Barcelona for, I would guess, <1/10th market rate, and having got to know the host a bit, it feels so much more intimate/trusting. Plus, staying in a REAL home (not some property investors yield machine, nor as a reluctantly-accepted guest in the necessarily rented spare room) lets you enjoy the location in a much more authentic way. I have accepted my first guests to stay soon too (they look like a super interesting couple) and Kindred is sending a bunch of supplies to help make sure it goes well, plus support sorting hospitality-level cleaning. I'm sticking my referral code below as it gives a few intro credits - but honestly, I don't care about the credits, I'm posting this because, as Sam Altman said, I have enjoyed the product so much I am sharing it simply to be early to do so, "for the implied good taste" 😂 https://lnkd.in/eHxtMVNy my code is ANT.COL if you want to sign up.
