About us
La Leche League GB is a registered charity. Through our network of volunteers, we provide mother to mother, parent to parent breastfeeding support at meet-ups across Great Britain. Our trained breastfeeding counsellors (known as LLL Leaders), who have all breastfed their own babies, work as volunteers. They provide a range of support options for parents, including: • Face to face breastfeeding support meetings • Online breastfeeding support meetings • Phone calls • Emails • Text and WhatsApp • Social media groups • Helpforms available through the website laleche.org.uk • Callbacks • And more. We support all families at every stage of their breastfeeding relationship, in ways that work best for them. We are committed to serving everyone – mothers, parents, families – regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, physical or mental ability, socio-economic status, political views, gender identity, sexual orientation, family structure, cultural values and beliefs. As well as a week to focus on the racial disparities in healthcare and breastfeeding support evident in the UK, it is also a week where Black women are encouraged to celebrate their breastfeeding journeys. LLLGB will be sharing posts from voices within the Black community - from advocates, mothers, parents and LLL Leaders. As World Breastfeeding Week 2024 comes to an end, the challenges and experiences of breastfeeding mothers and parents continue. Breastfeeding can act as an equaliser in our society and efforts must be made to ensure everyone has access to breastfeeding support and opportunities. As the Lancet Series on Breastfeeding last year said, 'breastfeeding is not the sole responsibility of women, but society's collective responsibility'. It's our shared responsibility. #WBW2024 #BreastfeedingSupportForAll #worldbreastfeedingweek2024 #WarmChain

Breastmilk has everything a growing baby needs in exactly the right amounts and is easy to digest. It adapts to meet their changing needs daily and over the weeks and months. And breastfeeding is also important for mothers' physical and mental health - both now and for the future. While the importance of breastfeeding is well-researched, this still doesn't ensure breastfeeding is protected and supported.
