Curious about the latest in manufacturing tech? Me too! Yesterday, I spent the day at the IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show with fellow Loebers Howard Newman and Charlie Ackerman, followed by a solo night at mHUB to find out! Here are my takeaways: ✅ Robotics are HOT right now. There are so many robotics vendors out there. However, with so many vendors, fragmentation is massive and will likely leave some manufacturers out of luck for support when their chosen vendor goes out of business. ✅ Price discovery in the secondary market for robotics is a massive unknown. Like most technology, the depreciation is likely to be huge! ✅ We're going to see large depreciation in traditional machinery that's attached to robotics in manufacturing lines. Robots can work 24/7/365, adding lots of extra running hours to machines! ✅ Although IoT has been out there and hot for a while now, we continue to see novel uses and slick dashboarding and metric gathering through cloud SaaS apps hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure , and Google Cloud. ✅ Laser scanning technologies are really maturing, allowing for deadly accurate digital imaging of physical objects. Efficient, no doubt, but also opening the door to potential copycatting! ✅ mHUB 's new facility is fantastic, home to so many novel emerging manufacturing companies! The energy there is amazing!
