Discovery Call happens after a new client has shared a brief introduction about their business and asked all the questions they want to ask about me and my logo design process. A discovery call is essentially a conversation or meeting between a designer and a client to understand the client’s vision, goals, and requirements for their logo design project. It’s a crucial step that sets the foundation for a successful collaboration and ensures that both parties are on the same page before starting the design process. During a discovery call, the designer typically asks questions to gather information about the client’s business, target audience, brand values, industry competitors, preferred design styles, color preferences, and any specific ideas or concepts the client may have in mind for the logo. The designer may also inquire about the intended use of the logo (e.g., for print, digital, merchandise) and any existing brand assets that need to be considered. The goal of the discovery call is to gain a deep understanding of the client’s brand identity and design preferences so that the designer can create a logo that not only looks visually appealing but also effectively represents the client’s brand and resonates with their target audience. This is how high-end brands differentiate themselves from mass products. Steal these and apply to your business one by one. 1. Exclusivity: They limit production to maintain exclusivity. And raise their prices so they don’t become a mass product. So, do not stitch those lehengas for the whole damn town. Just for the Kapoors and the Khans. 2. Quality Craftsmanship: Every detail, from material to finishing, reflects impeccable craftsmanship and superior quality. Source those cufflinks from China if you must. 3. Customization: They offer personalized experiences, allowing customers to customize products according to their preferences and feel special. Surprise Diljit Dosanjh with his name embroidered on the pillowcases when he comes to stay in your hotel. 4. Luxurious Experiences: Beyond products, they provide luxury experiences such as VIP events, concierge services, and private consultations. Host that private party with your top 30 clients. 5. Heritage and Legacy: They often have rich histories and legacies, leveraging heritage to build brand prestige and trust. Tell your brand story to connect with the right clientele. 6. Exceptional Service: Customer service is impeccable, ensuring seamless experiences and addressing every client’s needs promptly. Don’t make them wait in a line. 8. Attention to Detail: Every aspect of the brand, from packaging to marketing campaigns, is meticulously curated to convey luxury and sophistication. Invest in the right logo and branding. As a rule, every logo should be simple, memorable & appropriate, but when it comes to food industry, you should consider the following things. 1. Your logo would be used on a variety of media. Signboards, menus, website, cutlery, napkins, printed posters, social media etc. Before finalising the logo, test it everywhere. Logos that are too complex or take too much space are inefficient and would cause you trouble during the lifetime of brand. At the same time, a bad logo will keep you from becoming a brand people can fall in love with. 2. Red, yellow, orange and green are the most used food brand colours. They are great for fast food outlets. Fine dining branding demands a more refined colour palate. Shades of beige, brown and mahogany can be great. You can go with a more experimental color range as long as you keep it earthy and muted. Deep greys are a great choice and can be paired with golden, green, orange and cherry. It all depends on the mood and vatavaran you are trying to create in your space. 3. Typefaces can make or break the game. So can font pairings. Serifs go well with sans-serifs. Calligraphy is back in style. Serifs are elegant. Traditional vs. Modern. A genius font pairing might go unnoticed but a wrong one will give you a headache. 4. Using a burger image for a burger shop is a big no-no. Avoid icons of sandwiches and spoons and forks and chef hats just thrown into the design mindlessly. These things are okay for little eateries with no future. A long term business needs a logo that is made for it, not the food industry. 5. Check your logo for Color Independence. There’s a reel on my profile that talks about it. 6. Your logo should pass the B&W test, so it can be applied in single color. 7. Scalability. If your business goes viral, and you are flooded with franchisee requests (it happened with 4 of our clients last year) you need to plan it now. All your branding design and planning should be scalable. (Instagram Character limit) Follow for part 2. 2014 - Came back to my hometown (Kotkapura, Faridkot) after spending 15 years in metros like Chandigarh, Bombay, Ahmedabad & New Delhi, working with clients like Adidas, Sony Playstation, Set Max, HBO, Philips and Taj Hotels to name a few. It was depressing. Felt like I was buried into the ground. But thankfully, I had the strength to work hard on my craft. Logo Design. And God blessed me with work. I started off at dirt cheap prices, but slowly increased the prices… Abundant work came my way and I gave my best to every project - big or small. 2015 - Started helping clients with social media. 2016 - Started printing services. I wanted to do it all and be the king of advertising in Punjab. 😂 2017 - Stopped printing services to focus entirely on design. Also a few bad experiences discouraged me to persue it further. 2018 - Stopped social media as well, to focus entirely on logo design and branding. The fact is I was a one man army (nothing to be proud of) and couldn’t just do everything on my own. And my primary work of logo design suffered because of the sheer volume of social media work that had to be done for every client. Especially on the days of festivals, when everyone else was on a holiday, I would be making posts for clients. 2019 - Restarted social media on clients’ request (more like a demand) and built a small team of 3-4 designers. We worked for the best businesses around and made a name for better designing, creative ideation and timely delivery of error-free work. 2020 - Started getting clients from places like New Delhi, Bombay, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh. So you see, life comes to full circle. ☀️ 2024 - My focus is on learning more about my work and sharpen my skills further, because perfection is a lifelong pursuit. I try to take up less work, so I can put my heart and soul in each individual project. I spend a lot more time with nature and books and try to avoid the maddening speed at which the world seems to be moving. And yes, I now realise that I wasn’t buried but planted. 🌱 . Being an artist can mean a lot of things. One of them being - creating stuff for the mere joy of it. . Being an artist means healing yourself as a side-effect of creating stuff. Yes, it happens. . Being an artist means taking on the responsibility to create, despite having a business to run and dealing with the economics, the commerce and the finances of it. . Being an artist means keeping up with the new trends, new philosophies and then come back to the drawing board, calm the duck down and create. . Being an artist means getting caught up in a whirlwind of ideas and then calming yourself down to create. . Being an artist means creating stuff out of thin air. . Being an artist means being able to create without negatively affecting the surroundings in any way. . Being an artist means bringing more peace and beauty into the world. . Being an artist means being able delve deep into the subconscious and resurface, with gems that no one knew existed. . Do share what it means to be an artist for you. . Hi! I just made this logo for a fashion brand. Can you guess the name? It's easy if you try even a little. There are letters P and R hidden somewhere in the flower monogram. Very easy to find. Will reveal the brand name and some more designs soon. Meanwhile, stay fragrant, stay awesome! 🌷 .
