💡 Some things do not change… because they work and people like the feeling! Look at the image below. What do you see? Wouldn’t you agree that this picture epitomizes the saying “less is more”? A Bic pen is the same today as it was 70 years ago, because it’s a great design that remains relevant and reliable. And it works. We live in a world driven by innovation. Emerging technology has already left its mark on the #linguistic industry, and continues to do so every day. Its impact cannot be underestimated. But because hype rules the media sphere and the media sphere influences the way businesses operate, we see companies often go for the bells and whistles of some new hyped-up technology, instead of focusing on the things that really matter, such as the quality of the services provided and of the final results. The best stable results come from experience. Experience comes from the time spent on the job, and the number of cases you handle and resolve. And with 30 years under our belt, Logrus Global team can boast plenty of both. One important component of that accumulated knowledge is the ability to develop innovations to overcome well-known pains and challenges. Our in-house R&D department is pre-loaded with that kind of know-how and is proud to present such innovations as our very own #CAT tool, CatMint, and the Perfectionist app (https://perfectionist.app/) for all your QA tasks, #AI and #LQA experience, and, of course, automation, to name just a few. Our services are just as simple and reliable for the user as this BIC pen. But the tech and manpower that go into making this service and these tools are cutting-edge. Come see our capabilities, the things that we can do for you, the tools, and the knowledge that stands out. https://lnkd.in/d9_iNkSx #logrusglobal #translation #localization #cattools

💡 The new era of automotive industry #localization Localization is the child of globalization. Before the world was globalized, there was no need for it as the products were consumed where they were manufactured. As the companies started to expand their operations and launch on new markets, the need for localization became apparent. Looking at the history of localization in the automotive industry, we can see two distinct eras emerging. The first one, the era of globalization, was when the automakers entered the new markets, bringing their model range with them. At that time, the same model of car could be sold on numerous diverse markets, and localization involved mostly content in the form of model name adaptation, user manuals, promo materials, guides for sales staff and mechanics, and regulatory documentation. There was certain manufacturing localization for the markets where people drive on different sides of the road, but that was about it. Today, the situation is changing for two reasons, creating an additional boost for localization efforts. First, the #automotive industry is making great strides in introducing software and #AI into the car controls mix, and these changes are making automotive software localization paramount. Today, an important part of localization efforts involves things like electronic dashboards and sound systems, navigation, control systems, automotive apps, and in-car entertainment. Second, the automakers are “going local,” creating car models for the specific markets. Localization tweaks on the global models may be related to the levels of income or to the climate and weather conditions. Smaller car models are sold in Europe, where most of the population lives in old cities and parking can be rough. Larger models are sold on the markets where such considerations don’t play a role. In essence, the automakers are localizing the whole process, not just the final product. What do you think about this? Have you recently worked with any localization projects in the automotive industry? What’s your vision for the future of car localization? Will it all move in-house, with automakers hiring local talent before bringing a new car to the market? Will LSPs continue to provide localization services to the industry? Do share what you think! #logrusglobal #automotiveindustry #ai #translation

🗃 One of the most common tasks that localization managers (as well as translators) encounter is working with translation memory files. To simplify this process, we have created Goldpan - a multifunctional TMX/TBX file editor (https://lnkd.in/d8KHVwRC). ✍ These are some of the features that Goldpan offers: • Creating or editing #TMX files containing up to 8 languages. • Creating or editing #TBX files containing up to 2 languages. • Exporting selected segments to TMX, XLIFF (v1.2), or TBX file. Importing TMX, SDLTM, XLIFF, SDLXLIFF, TBX files. • Searching and filtering the source and target content of the file. • Several commonly used language quality assurance checks. • And many more! This editor is a part of the Logrus Global Localization Cloud and it is absolutely free! 😊 #translation #localization #translationmemory #tm #qa

The modern process of assessing #translation quality involves the use of linguistic metrics. But what exactly is a "linguistic metric" and how do you choose the right one? A linguistic metric (#LQA metric), is a tool used to measure the accuracy and adequacy of translations, whether they are done by machines or humans. It assesses how well a translation captures the meaning, grammar, punctuation, style, context, and other relevant factors of the source text. Each metric has a specific set of parameters and a scoring model. These metrics can be applied to evaluate translations produced by machine engines or Large Language Models (#LLM). They help determine how effectively a model can translate texts from one language to another and also assess the quality of human translations. There are numerous metrics available today, including SAE J2450, DQF, and ATA, which are considered "manual" metrics as they involve human input in scoring. On the other hand, automatic metrics such as BLEU, TER, WER, METEOR, and hLEPOR do not require the involvement of a translator or editor. Our Perfectionist LQA tool (https://perfectionist.app/) utilizes the most advanced metrics to ensure accurate linguistic quality assessment: 1. MQM 2.0: #MQM-based linear metric with full set of categories. 2. MQM-Simplified-LG-log: MQM-based linear analytic metric with M-threshold of 10 minor errors per 1000 words. 3. ATA: ATA certification metric, assessing the language skills of a professional translator: comprehension of the source-language text, translation techniques, and writing in the target language. 4. GEMBA-SQM: Automatic Direct Assessment powered by GPT-4 AI model which rates translation units on the quality scale from 0 to 100. Equivalent to human Direct Assessment, but fully automatic. 5. LOGIPEM: Advanced, unique metric proposed by Logrus Global for quick and reliable human review and comparison of machine translation results. With our tool you can can optimize the linguistic quality assessment process, making it convenient and transparent for both managers and linguists #logrusglobal #localizationtools #machinetranslation #lqametrics #perfectionist

📈 We`re all witnessing the rapid changes in the linguistic industry, with the growing influence of large language models and machine translation. However, it is crucial that we exercise caution and thoroughly evaluate the output generated by these models to ensure its quality. 📊 That`s why we have created a special metric for evaluating the quality of machine translation – LOGIPEM (Logrus Global Inverted Post-Editing Metrics) 💡 The LOGIPEM metric is a specialized metric developed by Logrus Global for assessing the quality of raw machine translation. It features a simplified set of error categories, with added error categories unique to machine translation systems, and a special exponential penalty model. Thanks to this, it allows for evaluating the quality of translations ranging from premium to "conditionally acceptable," clearly distinguishing between "mediocre," "good," and "excellent" translations. Most importantly, we have equipped this metric with two different algorithms for calculating an overall score (for comparing machine translation systems and for assessing quality of post-editing). With the help of this metric, two types of tasks can be performed. The first is the objective comparison of raw machine translation outputs from different systems. The second is the evaluation of a post-editor's quality of work, taking into account the MT specifics. This metric is already integrated into our unique LQA tool, Perfectionist. ✔ Perfectionist is a user-friendly and convenient cloud-based tool that allows you to effectively establish and improve the LQA process. https://perfectionist.app/ #lqa #mt #llm #translation #localization #logrusglobal
