  • September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.💛 Meet our friend, six year old Michael. He was diagnosed with leukemia when he was only two years old. He spent six months in the hospital and is now in remission. This sweet little boy is in kindergarten where he loves to watch Bluey, give hugs and play with bubbles. Here are some important facts about childhood cancer: 💛 In 2024 in the United States alone, there will be over 9,600 children ages 0-14 diagnosed with cancer. Over 1,000 will pass away from this disease. 💛 Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease for children. 💛 Leukemia, brain and other central nervous system tumors and lymphoma are the most common types of cancer children are diagnosed with. 💛 The five year survival rate for most childhood cancers has improved in recent years, especially for acute lymphoblastic leukemia which is the most common childhood cancer. (Source: National Cancer Institute) Remember to bring your child in for their annual wellness visits and let the pediatrician know anytime something doesn’t seem right with your child. #childhoodcancer #childhoodcancerawarenessmonth
