Helping People. Saving Pets.

About us

Lost Our Home Pet Rescue (LOH) in Phoenix, Arizona, provides comprehensive solutions to permanent and temporary displacement, pet abandonment, and hunger by helping both pets and their families, especially during times of domestic violence, eviction, homelessness, illness, etc. As a no-kill rescue with programs linked to preserving the human-animal bond whenever possible, Lost Our Home Pet Rescue takes a proactive approach to keep pets out of overcrowded shelters, where they are at risk of being euthanized, and instead, LOH works hard to keep them with the families that love them. The organization's primary goal is to provide safety net services to pet parents during challenging circumstances, so they don't have to choose between staying in an unhealthy or dangerous situation or losing their pets forever. Our mission is to provide compassionate services to pets and people in crisis. For over 15 years Lost Our Home has focused on finding homes for abandoned or orphaned pets and helping pet parents in need during times of crisis. We have helped over 34,250 pets, fed over 1 million meals to hungry pets, adopted over 10 thousand pets into loving forever homes, and have helped over 20,000 pet families in crisis through our Rescue & Adoption, Temporary Care/Domestic Violence, Pet Food Bank, and Tempe Police Department Partnership Programs. We have provided pets with the care and love they deserve and offered pet parents hope during the most difficult times in their lives and through our partnership with the Tempe Police Department we have provided 24/7 access to our shelter so no matter what time of the day or night a pet is in need, there is a safe place for those pets to land. Our rescue is able to do this work because of donors, volunteers and adopters. If you are able to help us save more lives or keep more families together by donating, volunteering or adopting, please visit our website for more info.

  • We're so excited to say that we've been awarded a $10,000 grant by The Grey Muzzle Organization this year to save our senior dogs! We were 1 of just 100 rescues in 32 states and Nepal to be awarded this generous grant and these funds will be used to help many senior dogs who come through our shelter this year. Our sweet senior girl Bella, who was recently adopted by her foster mama, was able to undergo a much-needed dental procedure and echocardiogram for her heart murmur to save her life. Thanks to Grey Muzzle, she was able to have those procedures and is now thriving in her golden years with her new mom! Senior dogs are a special kind, one of the best kind, and we can't wait to help so many more of these older fur babies improve their health and find their forever homes with the help of our friends at Grey Muzzle. Swipe to see what life is like with a senior fur baby like Bella! Do you have a senior dog in your household? When you're considering adopting, don't forget about these older lovebugs! #lostourhome #adoptdontshop #GreyMuzzleGrant #tempeaz #phoenix

🚨 HUGE NEWS! We just found out that we were 1 of only 52 shelters in the whole country selected by Miranda Lambert's MuttNation to receive a surprise grant of $5,000! We're honestly at a loss for words and just INCREDIBLY grateful to have been chosen as one of the AZ recipients of this grant. We will most definitely be putting that grant to good use over here for our beloved fur babies! We know this wouldn't have been possible without the remarkable team we have here at LOH, our phenomenal volunteers, our amazing donors, and YOU – our incredibly supportive community. Thank you for caring so much about our homeless pets and pet owners who need help. You're the reason why we're able to do what we do best – be there for our community when they need it. Cheers to you, and to us! 🥂

We'd like to introduce you to a very special and generous human, Marita ❤️ She is a kind soul who dedicates her time to giving back, and you know what she does for us? She sews. She sews for our sweet fur babies so their time with us is comfortable. She's a member of both the Tempe Needle Wielders and Tempe ARC. Both nonprofits sew for charities throughout the valley. Marita has not only helped to make cozy pillows for our pets but also the best little pet beds. Her skills with quilting are out of this world and all the work is donated to organizations in need. How amazing, right? Once again, yet another testament to how generous and kind-hearted our community of supporters is. Thank you, Marita 🙏 You're making the world a better place one stitch at a time. Help us give Marita all the thanks for her continuous dedication to our fur babies!

  • A word from our Founder & Executive Director, Jodi Polanski following our big win for Nonprofit of the Year 🎉 We couldn’t be more grateful. Serving our community of pet owners in the darkest of times and saving as many homeless pets as we can is what we’re all about. Jodi and our entire team are so passionate about what we do, down to our very cores 🙏 And the best part is we have the best community of people around us who support us every step of the way… YOU! Because of your generosity time and time again, we’re able to give pets and pet owners the most intentional support when they need it the most. 🎥: Kings Vision Films, thank you! #nonprofitoftheyear #tempeaz #adoptdontshop

  • BIG NEWS! 🎉 Lost Our Home is officially Tempe Chamber of Commerce's Nonprofit of the Year for 2024! When our team found out about our big win, our Shelter Director, Corrinne, put it best: 🗣️ "There's no way to count the extra effort, hours, and heart that all have contributed to make LOH what is today. This is a tremendous organization because of the tremendous people who work and volunteer here. It's a blessing to work with you all!" And our Founder & Executive Director, Jodi, added: 🗣️ "In addition I want you to know this award is an acknowledgment not just from leadership, but from the Tempe community about all the great work, effort, dedication, passion and results you have achieved together. Please celebrate you!! You all deserve this!" We can't tell you how grateful our team is for this recognition. BIG thanks to our incredible community for the major support all of these years and an even BIGGER thanks to every single person on our team, our volunteers, our fosters, our donors...everyone who's contributed to our mission of saving pets and helping people. Here's to many more years of life-saving care for pets and people in crisis in the AZ community! 🥂 🚨 If you’d like to help us celebrate this big win, our spring fundraiser is still going strong and we’re so close to hitting our goal! All of the donations we’re collecting in our Give Them Hope campaign right now are currently funding our ability to intake more abandoned pets during the summer season when we get hit the hardest. These funds allow us to give homeless pets the shelter, medical care, and love they need until they’re adopted. It also allows us to provide temporary care for pet owners who are going through a crisis, and we’re seeing A LOT of that right now. We have dozens of applications, it’s hard to keep up. People are losing their jobs and their homes and need a place to leave their pets until they can get back on their feet! If you’d like to help us give them hope, you can donate at the link below. We couldn’t do this without you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gNGKpdg2

  • It's not even the summer yet, and the kittens are already flooding in early! We've got upwards of 45 kittens who have just been born and we're expecting hundreds more over the next few months! These little furbabies require SO much care that comes at a high cost – foster homes while they're with their moms, lots of kitten food and litter, medical attention, and more... These are some of the sweet kitties who've been born just in the last few weeks and where your AZ Gives donation will go to caring for today ! We have a question for you... Can you help us with some of the high costs associated with caring for these babies? This AZ Gives Day, we're asking for your help to cover the costs of just 35 of these pets. Even a $20 donation goes a long way for us. Sharing is caring, too! DONATE HERE: https://lnkd.in/g3frnfT

AZ Gives Day is here and we need YOUR help! Arizona Gives is a powerful 24-hour online giving movement that unites Arizonans around causes they believe in and has helped raise more than $30 million for Arizona nonprofits. Today is THE day to join the rest of the AZ community and give back to the AZ nonprofits you know and love, and we're asking you to give to Lost Our Home to help us reach our $30,000 goal! DONATE HERE: https://lnkd.in/g3frnfT We're expecting over 600 homeless pets to flood through our doors in the coming months... Each of which cost us upwards of $885 to care for. The summer season is excruciating for us because in addition to all the adult/senior pets in crisis that come in, we get kittens and puppies by the dozens who need to be rescued, require medical attention, intentional care from our staff, and a cozy place to call home until they're adopted or returned back to their owners through our Temporary Care Program. CAN YOU HELP US COVER THE COSTS OF JUST 35 OF THESE PETS? To thank you for your kind generosity, this year we've partnered up with local professional photographer Emily Minerowicz (who adopted her sweet kitty Charlie from LOH) to gift any donors who give $350 or more a personal pet photoshoot at Lost Our Home on April 27th! Not only that, but we have a generous donor who will match any new monthly donations made for AZ Gives Day until the end of the year. So, by giving $20 a month your donation impact will be $40 a month through the year-end. If you could find it in your heart to donate to us for AZ Gives Day this year, we'll be forever grateful. And if you don't have the means to donate, that's okay! A simple share goes a long way for us Let's make this the best Arizona Give Day yet, together DONATE: https://lnkd.in/g3frnfT
