Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is the third-largest school division in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Join us for the Career Switcher Teacher Interest Night on Oct. 29 at 5:45 p.m. at Briar Woods High School to learn more. Amanda Gworek, a science teacher at Watson Mountain Middle School went through the program, and she has this to say to anyone considering Career Switcher: “The program was engaging, efficient and encompassed the key components of teaching. It was a great combination of independent work, instruction and experience in the classroom.   • The Loudoun Education Foundation arranged for a STEM learning experience made possible by grants contributed by, and in partnership with, the Equinix Foundation. Learning Undefeated, an experiential learning non-profit, set up their innovative mobile STEM labs outside of River Bend Middle School offering hands-on STEM "field trips" that engage students and spark their curiosity about the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.   • More than 200 LCPS middle school students participated in AWS Girls' Tech Day at Amazon's second headquarters in Arlington. This impactful event, made possible through the support of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Loudoun Education Foundation, provided students with hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). From programming robotic cars to learning about forensic science, students were inspired by engaging workshops and panel discussions featuring women leaders from AWS and NASA. This partnership is a vital step in encouraging young women to pursue careers in STEAM fields. A special thanks to AWS and the Loudoun Education Foundation for investing in the next generation of innovators.   • LCPS hosted the 2024 Workforce Summit last Friday, Oct. 18, where thought leaders, industry experts, educators, nonprofits and community members came together to collaborate on how to shape the next generation of workforce talent in Loudoun County. The event brought together more than 250 community, business, and LCPS team members to discuss the future of work and how to best partner in support of LCPS students.
