Incumbent shall be primarily responsible for overseeing a large number of consultant engineers who are charged with developing electrical construction plans for movable bridges, roadway lighting, and facilities. Incumbent may be required to review and provide expertise on all electrical design contracts created by any Project Manager or Program Manager statewide. The department serves primarily as a civil engineering firm. Thus, the Bridge Design Electrical Unit is the sole source of expertise the agency has within the state. This advanced level position provides high level expertise necessary for the agency to perform required electrical engineering work. This position provides administrative support, which ranges from contract development to reviewing of plans and monitoring and approving work. Position is responsible for ensuring timely delivery of construction plans from consultants and is given authority which cuts across many levels of DOTD to ensure that support efforts are carried out, as required, in order to meet deadlines for activities.
