💡 Great report by BPIE - Buildings Performance Institute Europe that serves as a regulatory analysis for implementing Whole Life Carbon related policies. While the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive mandates measurement of life cycle Global Warming Potential (GWP) starting 2028, and creation of a "Union Framework for national GWP calculation" the #INDICATE team has identify a policy framework to accelerate progress in WLC measurement. ▶ Among many elements, the report underlines the opportunity, through the creation of this EU Framework, to "𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬", improving comparability of WLC reporting. ❗ Without transparency and harmonization, differing methods could cause confusion and higher costs for the construction industry, potentially prolonging the divergence of national approaches, vision we support at Low Carbon Building Initiative Congrats #INDICATE authors Martin RÖCK Zsolt Toth KU Leuven

🥂🍾 🥳 LCBI is proud to announce the awarding of its 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 : the 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞 project in 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧 from Generali Real Estate, and the 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬 project in 𝐋𝐮𝐱𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐠, by BPI Real Estate & Unibra Real Estate ! It sets new actual milestones on the European real estate decarbonization path. 🎉   🇮🇹 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞 is a unique project, designed by the BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group architecture studio. It features two blocks linked by a futuristic portico and creates a new green and protected public space. The iconic part of the CityWave building is topped by over 10,000 solar panels, making it the largest solar farm in Milan. This system, with a 1.3-megawatt capacity, provides 65% of the project’s heating and cooling needs.   💬 “In joining the Low Carbon Building Initiative, we are being faithful to one of our ESG priorities in terms of decarbonization. 📷 SIBCA wrap-up   Yesterday was a big day for LCBI at the 2024 SIBCA - Salon de l'Immobilier Bas Carbone edition in Paris. 🎤 An inspiring roundtable took place, tackling the following issue : “Decarbonizing Europe’s real estate : regulatory landscape and financial impact on portfolio percormances”, featuring the first European awarded LCBI labels. This discussion, moderated by Amélie Rives, Impact for the Future, featured Gloria Brocchi, Head of Sustainability at Generali Real Estate ; Katharina Knapton-Vierlich, Head of Construction Policy at European Commission, Arnaud Regout, BPI Real Estate CIO.   💬 Katharina Knapton-Vierlich assessed : « The most important today is to build and renovate in a way that is less environnementally damaging. And lots of décisions are made before the building is built.» 💬 Gloria Brocchi - MRICS, about the LCBI label : « It is important to have a pathway. Having a first measurement is helping you to better perform the activities. It is also helping is for the relationships with our investors » 💬 and Arnaud Regout, BPI to agree : « Between countries, we don’t discuss about the same things. There are lobbies, and nothing is harmonised.
