Today marks a milestone for me. 20 years ago today, I walked into the Traverse City Lowe's for my first day of work. Little did I know, that would be the start of an incredible journey and career 💙 Happy Lowe's-anniversary to me, can't believe it's been 20 years!

  • “My first day here started around the holidays. I was a single mom of two struggling to make ends meet. I’ll never forget my SSA asking me what my kids and I were having to eat for the holiday. I remember slightly tearing up trying to act like a good meal was no biggie…but I knew I could not afford anything fancy, and it was just going to be a normal day with normal food for us. She didn’t ask me any more questions, she knew it was a hard time for me. The next thing she did was life changing. She privately went and bought groceries for me and my children. She asked me to bring my car to her, and she began loading my car with the groceries. I was overwhelmed with emotions; she gave me a big hug and told me “Merry Christmas”. It is truly special to be able to positively impact someone’s life and that is what she did that day. Now, three years later, I am in a place where I can support others. I look for little moments here and there to give what I can. Every good deed means something, and I want to carry her generosity forward.” – Sarah S., - Specialty ASM #LowesLife

  • Life is about building relationships. In just over two years here, I have worked at five store locations connecting me to almost 320 associates. I value each of those connections as I take pride in helping them see their true self-worth as they discover their talents and build their accomplishments. The reward in supporting those around you is seeing the growth of the “pay it forward effect” where they begin to encourage others around them. That is what life is about.” – Stephen B., Interim Store Manager #LowesLife

  • “I was retired, but came out of it because I need to stay busy and keep pursuing my passion for helping people. I never expected that decision would lead me to be recognized by our CEO in the form of my Platinum Service Star. I love seeing all of my accomplishments on my vest. From my mentor badge to my service stars and my safety swag, each badge reminds me why I took this job in the first place. I am grateful to be recognized for my work. But I am more grateful to be able to continue being a friend, a mentor, and someone who gets the chance to support my coworkers and the customers that come into our store.” – Dean M., Sales Specialist #LowesLife

  • “Five years ago, I discovered that I had inherited my late father's 'gift of gab' when I made a major life change to switch my career from medical billing and coding to the retail industry. At that time, I was using my degree working in the medical field, but I was not getting any joy from it. I remember shopping at Lowe’s when a cashier mentioned they were hiring, and I thought, 'why not?' That career decision is when I truly began to discover my passion for helping people. My father, who passed away 13 years ago, had this same passion, and he continues to inspire me every day. Every award and recognition on my vest remind me that the choice I made five years ago has improved my self-esteem, my lifestyle, and continues to allow me to make my father proud each day I show up to work.” – Kimberly W., Paint Dept. Supervisor #LowesLife

  • As a part of our $12 million pledge to support hurricane relief and recovery efforts, our team has been working tirelessly alongside incredible organizations and volunteers to build and deliver 100 tiny homes to those in need during this holiday season. Each tiny home can sleep three to four individuals and are electrically heated. The homes come equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, and two full sized beds to provide temporary housing to flood victims while they stay on their land to rebuild their homes for the future. 💙🛠️ Read More: https://lnkd.in/eyyDfkDC

  • “The Angel Award is given when lifesaving actions are performed in our store. I saved a coworker’s life when they were choking on their lunch in the break room. When I received this award, I was very emotional as I had never received something like this. I try to be invested in the people who are in my life, caring for them and stepping in when help is needed is something that just comes natural to me, so it was not something I ever expected to be rewarded for. I always say that the best thing you can do is the right thing, because that is what you do when you want the best for the people around you. I am just grateful that I was in the right place at the right time." - Chino B., Outside Lawn & Garden #LowesLife
