“Skilled trades offer a lot of opportunities to make good money. If you want to make good money, go into the trades, “ said Cayden Collier, an Electrical student at Howard College Cayden learned about the skilled trades at a young age from an uncle who was a civilian lineman contractor for the U.S. Air Force. Learning about his uncle’s work inspired Cayden to explore skilled trades education through his high school’s construction skills program. There, he learned the basics of electrical work and realized his love for working with his hands. Eventually, he plans to become a master electrician, have his own apprentices and maybe even his own business. #SkilledVoices

The Master's Apprentice Program is doing an amazing job supporting so many young people to achieve their goals within the trades….These graduates were such an inspiration to me especially hearing how many have navigated life’s twist and turns in their pursuit of advancement within the skill trades…. The Lowe's Foundation is committed to supporting CBO’s and other organizations in helping 5OK people enter the trades over the next 5 years…

More people are realizing that skilled trades training opportunities exist in their backyard. They are also taking advantage of it. Since 2023, a Lowe’s Foundation survey found that the general public’s awareness of these training opportunities at community colleges grew by more than 10%, correlating with a 16% enrollment increase at vocationally focused schools, per National Student Clearinghouse #SkilledTrades
