Marketing Major in Naveen Jindal School of Management at University of Texas at Dallas

As I wrap up the semester, I would like to share one of my favorite experiences of my first year at the University of Texas at Dallas. I have had the privilege to lead and teach beginner English classes , ESL (English Second Language), every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for UTD's faculty staff, whose native language is not English. It is not just about learning a new language, but about fostering diversity, community, and radiating a sense of belonging to people who are not originally from the United States.    Having moved to the USA from Venezuela in 2015, I remember the challenges of adapting to a new language and culture. The ESL classes I attended were key in helping me navigate this transition and I would not be here without them. So now, it's an incredible privilege to pay it forward and share the knowledge of the language that I have acquired throughout the years to people who need it most.     I am grateful for this great volunteer opportunity as it has taught me so many lessons about integrity and building an inclusive environment. Lastly, I would like to thank the person who made this possible, Monserrat Hernandez, and LULAC UTD for putting these classes together and allowing us to volunteer and make a positive impact in my university.

Criminology Graduate Student at UT Dallas | Spring ‘24 Bill Archer Fellow | Pre-Law

Last week I graduated from the The Archer Center Fellowship Program! I am so grateful for the incredible experience I had as an Archer Fellow and the wonderful cohort I was a part of. I spent my days surrounded by brilliant people who have dedicated their lives to making this world a better place. I learned so much about the policy-making process, networking, and the importance of having tough and productive discussions. My incredible cohort will one day be the the future leaders of America, and from what I saw this semester, we are going to be in very good hands. Thank you to the The Archer Center staff for this life changing opportunity, to Donal Skinner for representing The University of Texas at Dallas and supporting the UTD fellows, and to my amazing internship site, Legal Aid DC, for the best semester of my life!

Proud to have welcomed Texas House of Representatives HD102 Rep. Ana-Maria Ramos on behalf of LULAC at UTD and @ALAS in a vital discussion on Senate Bill 4 and its harmful impact on Texans everywhere. We are committed to empowering and educating the The University of Texas at Dallas and the DFW community in the battle against discriminatory legislation by spreading awareness of our constitutional rights against predatory laws like #SB4. #TXHD102 #CommunityEmpowerment #Advocacy #SocialJustice

'24 Bill Archer Fellow | '24 LULAC Man of the Year | DREAMer | Immigration Reform & Civil Rights

Thrilled to have represented LULAC UTD at the "Dreamers of Today" Summit in Chicago last week! Alongside 80 other student leaders from across the nation, this summit taught us how to equip ourselves with the proper tools for organizing and mobilizing in advocating for undocumented immigrants. This was a pivotal moment for strategizing actions for establishing support systems for DREAMers, like myself, back in our schools and communities.   The summit's highlight undoubtedly lay in the heartfelt exchange of our immigrant journeys, with each tale reflecting a unique perspective of the resilience, diversity, and struggles that our immigrant backgrounds have encompassed. It was remarkable to see an instant bond spark amongst us, as 80 strangers seemingly became family in the short span of three days.   I am eager collaborate with my peers in Texas to implement our plan of action to protect immigrant rights and lead a movement to provide a better future for all undocumented immigrants. I cannot wait to see the amazing things my new colleagues have in store for their futures! Finally, I would like to extend a profound thank you to Enddy, Eréndira (Ere), everyone at the American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC), and many others for making this event a possibility and giving us a platform to change the future. 🌟 #DreamersOfToday #DOT #WorkPermits4All #LULAC #ImmigrationReform #DREAMers #DACA #Chicago #UndocumentedImmigrants #Advocacy League of United Latin American Citizens
