  • LULAC is thrilled to announce the launch of the National Innovation and Technology Committee, chaired by Caroline Sanchez Crozier. This dedicated group of technology experts and advocates for digital equity aims to empower Latinos in education, the workforce, and the wider community within our rapidly evolving digital landscape. Their mission is clear: to ensure that Latinos have a seat at the table as technology continues to shape our future across all sectors—community, education, government, and industry. LULAC National President Roman Palomares emphasized that Latinos contribute significantly to America's brain trust and are essential in developing and implementing innovative tech solutions that drive jobs and economic growth. As part of our 30 Days of Activism for Hispanic Heritage Month, the committee's formation was announced at a White House meeting with key stakeholders. Titled “Unidos Se Puede: Expanding Pathways into Cyber,” this event underscores our dedication to fostering partnerships and creating opportunities in the tech sector. By promoting technology education, training, and advocating for policies that support diversity, the committee seeks to ensure that Latinos are not just participants but also leaders in shaping the future of technology. • 🚨 Important Alert for Those in Hurricane Milton's Path 🚨 If you know anyone living on the West Coast of Florida between Naples and Tampa who has not yet evacuated, please urge them to leave. This storm is expected to be a disaster, and while some may think it’s safe to move inland, Hurricane Milton will still be a Category 1 when it exits Florida. Here are some essential tips: 1️⃣ It is highly recommended that individuals take photos and videos of their entire property before the storm. This documentation can be invaluable after the storm to demonstrate any damages incurred. 2️⃣ It is also advisable to obtain complete copies of flood and property insurance policies before the storm arrives. To assist in preparedness efforts, we encourage everyone to check out the Hurricane Milton Pre-Landfall Communications Resources: Preparedness and Evacuations toolkit, available in both Spanish and English. These resources can be shared with your community to help ensure safety and preparedness. • Today is #LatinaEqualPayDay — a reminder that Latinas must work nearly 23 months to earn what non-Hispanic White men make in just 12. The wage gap is even larger for Latina mothers, a quarter of which are the breadwinners for their family. This gap represents more than a paycheck—it’s about opportunity, equity, and economic justice. The gender wage gap between Latinas and White men will not be closed within the lifetime of anyone working today unless we take action to change these trends. Today, on #LatinaEqualPayDay, we honor the contributions of Latinas in every industry and continue the fight for equal pay. How can you support the fight for equal pay? · Advocate for policies that promote pay equity. · Support Latina-owned businesses. · Share information and raise awareness. Together, we can make a change!
